Thanks SrewCrew88 for answer my question.  I think I have a better understanding of it now.

Gunkey Monkey, to answer your question about Arrow products and servicing them:

PKIDelirium is correct that S+S does service Arrow rides.  As well, I believe Vekoma may have also provided support services to customers with Arrow products since their track design and ride systems are fairly similar.

Surprisingly, B&M has also offered service to customers with Arrow product.  I can think of specifically Cedar Point.  The pretzel loop turn-around on Magnum XL 200 underwent re-engineering around 1994 (??) and B&M provided services for that project.

Im sure there are many other after market companies that make ride parts upon request or even parts of their catalogs.

My car, for example is 19 years old, and I can go to many after market dealers or Honda Themselves. But I will pay less buying a part aftermarket, but the quality isn't as good as a genuine Honda part.

When I was at Cedar Point earlier this year (don't hate me) I was taking a close look at the Corkscrew.  It also seems to be all one solid welded piece just like DL.  Could the Corkscrew also undergo the same type of fatigue and rail seperation issues as the DL faced in it's final year?  The Corkscrew at CP is very uncomfortable and I always ALWAYS get bruises on my back after riding it from the unpadded seats.  Why do I continue to ride it?  Because I love the older coasters the best.

Probably since Corkscrew opened a year before Double Loop.

BlueStreak81: yes, Corkscrew at CP is welded together like the Double Loop was constructed.  Corkscrew does go through x-ray testing for fatigue and cracking issues.  I believe it has had tie-braces (the U shaped part of the track) replaced at high stress points.  At some point in time I would suspect the decision will be made to tear down the coaster versus continuing to make repairs and maintain antiquated technology.

When the Corkscrew at Geauga Lake use to still be at the park, the lowest point of the turn going into the corkscrew inversions was a high stress area.  Those tie-braces also were regularly inspected and replaced when needed.

Another great example of stress on Arrow steel track can be found in photos of Viper at SFMM and Great American Scream Machine at SFGA.  The tops of the loops on those coasters have additional bracing added between the track and the spine due to the extreme G-forces placed on the structure by the trains during inversions.  This additional bracing helps to maintain the proper gauge of the running rails as well as help lower wear and tear on the track by making it stronger.

wow.  just, wow.  that was really graphic, but i thank the person for sharing it, because it really does help with accepting things.  it's just so hard to look at so many years of fun, brought down so quick and permanently ended.

i don't like good byes.  not one bit.

"wow" is right. Really hate seeing this happen, but at the same time I wanted to know what actually went on behind that fence. Thanks for posting.

Now that we know what it has been reduced to, does anyone have a truck? Smile

Thanks dave for the pictures and telling a bit about your conection to the park. It must be sad to tear down the rides you have enjoyed like many others. I always an amazed to watch things get torn down. i am wondering if you have a date set for the Sky scraper? My sons and are along with many others would like o know how they are going to take that down. That is going to be a sad day, but the curious side of me wats to watch. Again thank you for the pictures. Many of us wanted to see the tear down, but we are not aloud to get anywhere near to see....

Cleveland Scrap did not buy the Skyscraper, that was bought by a different company from Akron.

Thanks again for the new set of pics, Dave.  Those photos taken from the old Dominator station are quite haunting.  Gives a new meaning to "front clear, back clear, all clear".

Despite the circumstances it must be fun to climb all over the rides. I always wanted to climb a coaster lift hill.

So that explains why there are more of those "u" looking braces on certin pieces of Arrow track than on others.  Kinda like how Vekoma used double pipe on some parts of their rides like X-Flight.  The lift hill, first flip over and on the loop.

thanks for the new set of pics dave and keep them coming.
