Anyone see the irony in that last statement?

Katie, I wasn't talking about you or GLisdun, rather geaugafan2013. Reading his post again, I am seeing he was just being sarcastic and a troll. Sometimes in rushing through these forums the meaning gets lost. My mistake.

I'll miss the The Double Loop.  Next to the Tennessee Tornado, it was the smoothest Arrow around.

Can all of us just get back to talking about the DL. I think it best to discuss what is going to happen with the ride, not if you were at the park over the last 2 years.

Can I make a prediction?

The segments of track will sit on the lot at Cleveland Scrap for a few months, get kinda rusty, then be melted down and made into arms and armaments for the military.

They will be shipped over to the middle east, where it will be stored in a warehouse and be left to sit for years after the war is over, until an arms dealer (looking suspiciously like Nicholas Cage) walks in, picks them all up, and sells them to revolutionaries in another country.

There may be sarcastic trolls about, but geaugafan2013 is not one of them.

A lot of people cared about the Double Loop and the park even if they had not been able to get there in 2007, for whatever reason. Think of all the merchandise sales and admissions Cedar Fair lost by not having a farewell season (like Euclid Beach or Myrtle Beach Pavilion) or even a few weeks of notice (like Erieview or Astroworld).

On top of that, think about all the things that were taken away since 2000 that gave people one less reason to come back. Geaugafan2013 mentioned 2005, that was the year after the first year that the animals were gone.

Even if they would have just given us a final weekend in October. I would have paid $50 bucks a head just to go one last time.

You weren't, I think pete misinterpreted something.

By the way, Screamscape has a nice Double Loop video along with some other Geauga Lake news:
http://www.screamscape.com/html/us_news.htm#Ohio

I'm glad that Double Loop will live on in so many pictures and videos.

Geaugafan2013 you are not a troll.  Feelings are running very high right now, it's easy for people to maybe take things out of context. Hang in there!

I went today and saw that the double loop is finally gone for good, nothing left. I also saw them getting big cranes in position for the villian to be tore down, so look for this destruction some time tommorrow!

I also got a chance to see in the fence next to RT43 and noticed them tearing and smashing down the old wave pool. WOW, it really does look like they could care less about anything in our park. One last thing, I'm begining to think that they already destroyed (The Log Ride) cause I didn't see it at all from outside of park and you normally could see the hill right next to double loop. If this is true, what's up with the News not giving us any info on what is happening,DAMMMMMMMMMMNN I'm getting pissed!

99.9% of us here aren't here to bash GL.
We've all spent many hours over many summers & have even the more memories there.

Please don't jump the gun to judge,
remember you'll be in this position,
not today for you,
but someday, someway,
you will feel this.
The rage & helplessness over the loss of this inate object (s)?
no,
this place of being, this place of mind,
no that's not it.

this state of mind?

no I think it more of
the state of mind this place puts your being into.
that's the loss we feel,

GL will always evoke those feelings out of us who have loved it,   Regardless of what is there, we will still go there, drive by or even hear the words "Geauga Lake" & those feelings will still be strong in our soul.
