I went today and saw that the double loop is finally gone for good, nothing left. I also saw them getting big cranes in position for the villian to be tore down, so look for this destruction some time tommorrow!
I also got a chance to see in the fence next to RT43 and noticed them tearing and smashing down the old wave pool. WOW, it really does look like they could care less about anything in our park. One last thing, I'm begining to think that they already destroyed (The Log Ride) cause I didn't see it at all from outside of park and you normally could see the hill right next to double loop. If this is true, what's up with the News not giving us any info on what is happening,DAMMMMMMMMMMNN I'm getting pissed! |
Thats terrible.... I was expecting this..but its still just as hard to hear and see. Thanks for keeping us updated on what you see.
May the Ghost of Geauga Lake haunt that little senile kinzel bastard the rest of his old age and then some. AMEN! _________________ Geauga Lake I will miss you! |

I addition to the above mentioned destruction I noticed from the street that the monorails station roof is partially collapsed. _________________ GL's demise was caused by one mans foolish greed.

I know tha the Double Loop was not the biggest of fastest ride, but it was a good one! I know I have been telling people that it is gone, and so many people are really upset! Most tell me what a waste of a good ride! I know that it would have not been easy to move the ride, but I still don't understand what the master plan is for the land? I mean why is 119 years of history being destroyed so fast the it is making my head spin? |

The reason is a senile greedy old bastard. He was so jealous of that place he couldn't sleep. He will do whatever it takes to destroy any remnants of that once great park so that his jewel does not suffer anymore.
Too bad it didn't work and Ill bet he still cant sleep. _________________ GL's demise was caused by one mans foolish greed.

Has Akiva weighed in on this? I still have the pictures from his website in my mind, especially the one of him hugging the Double Loop train...
I truly believe the media is absent (on air) because they've been paid to shut up. Cedar Fair ADVERTISES Cedar fricking Point on local TV!
Next, those that have not been able to attend the park in recent years because they were pursuing "life" things, don't beat yourself up about it, just over what anyone says here. Those things go in cycles; we didn't go for a number of years while some things got in the way. That's just how life works sometimes. Don't apologize for it! Never apologize for living your life. And it's true that if we know something precious is ending, we rearrange to go and pay our respects.
As for Cedar Fair... I wish them the worst, the absolute WORST, especially Kinzel. If that sounds mean, well that's just too darn bad. We have been wronged. This didn't have to happen. _________________ R.I.P. Thriller, 1969

Ok so if they bought the DL for scrap, then does anyone know what they plan on doing with the Double Loop sign on the station? |

They might have thrown out the sign, like they did with grizzly runs sign! Unless it turns up on e-bay, we may never know! Just remember these people don't care about GL like we do, they just want money! _________________ (ACFG)Anti-Cedar Fair Group |

I would agree about the sign being thrown out! Look at the way this whole park has been destroyed in just under a year after they decided to tell the pubic about he closing! The whole thing makes me want to scream! But what is the oint, no one will hear!!!! _________________ Life is like a rollercoaster. It is full of ups and downs! |

Oh, these guys don't give a crap about the park.
On auction day I was standing outside the gate taking a couple final photos and "some guy" walked past talking on a cell phone, I managed to overhear him mention to whoever he was talking to that "I just bought two coasters" and a really quick description of Double Loop and Villian.
I interupted him (maybe rude but I had to know) and asked "Please tell me you're not going to scrap them".
He quickly looked back, said "Oh yeah, they're going to be scrapped." then chuckled before walking away.
If I hadn't already seen all my memories sell to scrappers through the day I would have fainted right there.
I spent most of the day hanging out with a welder that worked on the park through the 80's and early 90's as well as a retired scrapper. Both (yes, even the scrapper) were shocked with how everything happened through the day. Scrappers are the Hyenna of memories but even this one had to pause for a moment when a couple items sold.
How flippant the winning bidder on DL and Villian was is perfect for how CF has dealt with this whole situation.
I don't fault CF for closing the park (okay, yes I do) but HOW they closed the park shows they have the same contempt for us as the scrapper who laughed in my face that he was going to level my memories. _________________ Positions Held:

^Talk about deja vu...not the ride. When the dude from Cleveland scrap bought Villain, there was a number of people the came up to him asking if the could purchase the sign. One lady in particular asked him a number of times if she could buy the sign off of him. He looked at the sign, and told her no. The lady started to cry and had one of her friends take a picture of her underneath the sign. _________________ "What we do in life, echoes in eternity."
