I felt this deserved it's own Post. Double Loop touched all of us and it is sad for me to say that 7-9-08 was it's last day. Thanks to Coaster Dad for giving me the Heads up and all the information he supplied me. With a Combined effort we are able to bring you Double Loops last days with us. I arrived this morning with the info from Coaster Dad that DL was without it's loops. Arriving on the Scene I find a crew of about 15 guys and 1 cutting machine. The machine sliced through the track pieces in 10 ft sections. dropping it on the ground then cutting it up into smaller pieces. Within 6 hours they reduced it down to nothing. With the same crew I see villain coming down a day and a half max. I took the Best pics I could get sorry to say they are through the outside fence and villain. By 2:30pm Double Loop was down to the station and a few pieces of track. RIP Double Loop 1977-2008

RideOp, you rock! Thanks so much for the photos. It is strange yet very upsetting to see DL missing from the skyline.
If you want to start seperate threads for each ride coming down, please feel free to do so. _________________ On September 21, 2007, a historic 119-year old amusement park had been secretly murdered. Never forget it. |

What a sad thing to see. Both my husband and I are just feeling unreal that this is really happening to our park.
Thanks for the pics, no matter how sad they are. It gives a small bit of closure.

I remember riding Double Loop and then Corkscrew back in the day....Double Loop, you will be missed. At least India is enjoying our Corkscrew and it lives on. |

I cannot believe it. It was a tradition to ride Double Loop after riding Villain. So many memories from riding it as a little kid, my friend making a crazy laugh going through the tunnel, and the little pop of air time right before the helix. It'll be ashame to not be able to ride one of the smoothest arrows in the world (the other is Tennesse Tornado at Dollywood). _________________ "What we do in life, echoes in eternity."

I see this as the perfect time to hit Cedar Fair in the gut. It's time to start writing letters to the editors of your local papers and lets see if channels 3,5,&8 will run stories on the destruction. The DL was a historical coaster and this will show people exactly what kind of people we are dealing with here. Dickhead just destroyed the first coaster I have ever been on and I'm ready for action, how about you. ACFG _________________ Check out the new group on Facebook:

I am literally sick seeing that. I mean, I guess we all knew it was coming eventually...but not seeing it atcually happening made me hold out some sort of weird hope that I would wake up and this was all a bad dream. Guess not. |

^^yeah...sadly its not a dream that i cant seem to wake up from. To bad i cant wake up and gasp for air, and feel relieved that it was just a horrid dream and the fact that i could still hear the villan roaring and people screaming from my front yard...
