I would LOVE to get a copy of the Aurora Advocate with this in it but I don't see myself getting to Aurora this week. I used to go to Aurora EVERY week but for some stupid reason I didn't this year!
Would someone mind grabbing me a copy and hanging on to it for a bit? Or even if they could mail the copy to me, I would send some cash back via paypal... If anyone is interested please let me know.
This may be a collectors piece someday. Suitable for display on one of the upcoming "Remember Geauga Lake" meetings like Puritas and Euclid Beach does.
If anyone can get one to me, please PM. THANKS! |

[b] ARE THERE ANY BUYERS OF DIPPER SIGNS THAT WOULD BE WILLING TO PROVIDE THE NEW OWNER OF THE COASTER, WITH A PHOTO OF THE SIGNS, SO THEY MAY BE RE-CREATED ?
TO PREVENT MORE RUMORS, THIS IS THE BIDDER, WRITING ON BE-HALF OF THE OWNER. THE OWNER HAS DECIDED TO REMAIN UNKNOWN UNTIL THE VENOM DIRECTED AT ME, HIM AND CEDAR FAIR STOPS.
STATEMENTS MADE BY THE PRESS AND IN THE PRESS, ALONG WITH STATEMENTS MADE ON VARIOUS WEB SITES, HAVE CAUSED HIM TO RE-THINK HIS INVESTMENT PLANS.
HIS CHOICE, NOT MINE. ALSO, HE WOULD LIKE TO BE PUT IN TOUCH WITH A FEW OF THE PEOPLE THAT WERE OPERATORS, MECHANICS,ETC. THAT WORKED ON IT OVER THE LAST FEW YEARS.
YOU MAY E-MAIL THAT INFORMATION TO MACHINERY 100@YAHOO.COM

Wait, hold on!!! Back the truck up.
This wouldn't be Tom Woosnam would it?
This coming from me not anyone else on this site. Why would we help you when we don't even know what is going to happen to Dipper???? No one is saying anything about what is going on and it all seems all so fishy to everyone.
Maybe if we felt a little more secure about the Dipper's future and what is going to happen we might be more then willing to help out in the matter. But, seeing as we know nothing and everything is kept in secret, in all honesty, I don't see you getting much help here or anywhere.
Especially, when the newspapers are all over this situation because they smell the stink a mile away. _________________ Katie

I'd bet with additional documentation and a more professional approach (the Caps Lock key is located on the left side of your keyboard) you'd probably be able to convince many of the owners to provide the actual signage that was purchased - especially considering you're looking for maintenance people and operaors which would only imply that you or the owner plan to maintain the ride as operational, something most of us consider highly unlikely.
Having said that, I find it highly suspicious that signage would be removed from a ride with an owner without the owner's consent.
Still, if the bidder, owner, developer, movers, etc are so concerned about the negative press and discussions keeping quiet about his plans is not going to be the way to deal with PR. If you're waiting for the venom to subside keeping quiet any longer about the fate of the ride is not the way. _________________ Positions Held:

On second thought, I will not be posting any photos of my purchases. I don't want anyone without scruples getting their hands on the image. |

Thank you! We were really glad to meet everyone finally. I am really glad we made the trip up to the lake. It was really sad driving back behind the park near Wolf Bobs. It almost made me cry. I mean they were just ripping things out like it was garbage.
If everyone wants, let's get together at Waldameer in late May or June and make sure we get plenty of people up. Maybe possibly getting ERT with the park and so on. I can also find out if we are able to grill up there or just bring up potluck stuff.
I would love to get about 50 people with family members. Do an informal takeover on RF2 perhaps? _________________ Katie

Lets slow it down a bit. If this is Tom, lets at least give him a chance here. Tom has been silent this long, if the poster was in fact Tom, maybe he's feeling a little better about things. Let's at least hear him out. Maybe it would be worthwhile for us to co-operate.
Tom, an open request from all of us... What do you know? Should we have given up all hope? Any news? |

He has posted on numerous places and websites about getting rid of the Dipper. It was on NAPHA's website and on one of the newspapers either Sandusky Register or Aurora Advocate. I really forget which one.
Also, that is my opinion. I smell something rotten coming out of Denmark. All he says is he wants. Doesn't prove that it's him or what is going to happen to Dipper.
I am not trying to make a scene, but I don't want something to happen to Dipper just because someone can't feel the need to say who they are and who the owner of the dipper is. _________________ Katie

Welcome to the boards.
All we hope for from the buyer is to see the Big Dipper preserved. There has been confusion and bemusement over the lack of information but little venom directed toward Mr. Woosnam and the buyer. That would change if it is destroyed. More to the point, there would be a lot of bad press which is beyond anyone's control. It is the 12th oldest in the world and a big part of summer for generations of the general public, far beyond these boards, who are interested in what happens to it.
Our member Theparkb says Mr. Woosnam is sincere about wanting to preserve it, I hope that is true.
Theparkb's plans for the Raging Wolf Bobs are actually a good example of how a little information can eliminate the criticism. Pieces of the track appeared on ebay and there was much criticism. But then he came on here and explained what he was doing and why the Bobs unlike the Dipper cannot be moved. He also made a significant donation to the Geauga County Historical Society and got some sales and good press. The Big Dipper is in much better shape than the RWB so the specifics of that situation don't apply, but the idea that a little openness goes a long way does.
That has been Cedar Fair's problem all along, starting with closing the park without notice. _________________ "It's a very special ride. We want to make sure it has a proper home." Cedar Fair's Innes on Big Dipper, 12th oldest roller coaster on Earth.

Why would he care about criticism of Cedar Fair if he is not connected to it? Like I said before the dsscontent with Cedar Fair is about a lot more than the Big Dipper, I don't see that he has a dog in that fight (unless of course he is connected with CF).
Why would he re-think a legitimate investment plan because of something said on the Internet, if there really is such a plan? If it is a legitimate preservation plan, there will be much praise. |

I have much to say...
First of all I wanted to say how sorry I was that I was not able to make it to BW3 on Saturday. Something came up latst minute so all I got to do was to sttend the sale early. I was suprised though I thought the website said 10:30 opening, but I got there at 10:15am and I saw people walking away with signs. I thought that was a bit unfair. But, its what it is.
Katie, I did see the post abput Waldameer. I think thats an awesome idea. I wonder if there is another get together we could do even before then? My girls and I did not attend a theme park this year. Mostly because they are still heartbroken Geauga Lake is gone. I was thinking Kennywood, but a fr4iend of mine went to Waldameer and said how great it was.
NOw I want to say something about this dude who is soliciting help for signage and whatever for the big dipper. For what it is worth:
I first of all don't post here as often as some, but I do check out here almost 1 to times per day, and post on things I feel I have a valuable opinion. So I took a great deal of offense at the comment of "TO PREVENT MORE RUMORS, THIS IS THE BIDDER, WRITING ON BE-HALF OF THE OWNER. THE OWNER HAS DECIDED TO REMAIN UNKNOWN UNTIL THE VENOM DIRECTED AT ME, HIM AND CEDAR FAIR STOP. "
There has not been ONE comment I have found on this forum on ANY topic, that has been unjustly fired at the purchaser of the big dipper. There have been some comments about the fact that the coaster was purchased 3 months ago, and yet still no announcement of its fate has been announced. This ride means a lot to some people, and its future is of concern. After 80+ years of entertaining guests, it became a partt of loved tradition. So those comments are justified. The park is almost 90% down now, everyday its future is still unknown worries some. So if this is Mr. Woosnam, sorry, you have no grounds to fire off a comment like that.
I think as Katie said, if more info on its future, info we were all promised months ago, would become public, more cooperation would be easy to get. BUt, I agree Katie, this post out of no where, just doesnt add up. |

Information I will give about the poster in question:
The IP address shows they posted from NE Ohio, Akron to be exact.
They signed up in late July and this is the first post.
The email used to sign up is not the same as the one in the post.
The email address used to sign up has a name in it, I wil not post the name but for those in the know it might be useful.
Use this information as you see fit. _________________ Greed is what caused GL's demise and that just makes me sick. Lets do what we can to rat out Kinzel - hes a snake.

Well, my $0.02 (less the "Chad's talking out of his a**" deflation factor) is that the only thing I can say about the owner of the Dipper is that they're not very honest, which worries me.
It was said that they would reveal themselves and the Dipper plans 1-2 weeks after the auction, then it didn't happen. ACE was offered the coaster for ~$3 Mil in moving costs, far more than anyone else would charge. The Dipper was then shopped around for the same elsewhere, with what appear to be thinly veiled threats of "someone needs to come forward now or else..." type insinuation.
From our angle, this is ALL we see! If we even knew "If the coaster goes nowhere else, there is a spot in Northeast Ohio (radius from city) that it will be setup at, (available/not available) for visitors (year-round/on special occasions), and (running/not running)." it would give a lot of us peace of mind.
I understand that some business plans have to stay quiet until a certain point is reached, but this complete lack of information, paired with the mover having no coaster experience, worries us! Not saying that APEX wouldn't be able to move the coaster, or wouldn't bring in experienced help to make sure it's done properly, just that the choice is baffling. |
