I am just wondering but I was thinking how much is Cedar Fair wanting to get from Geauga Lake's land? How much do you think they were offered and how much should all the land go for? _________________

So they want $1.5mil, but will spend ~$1mil/year if they don't get it?
That just is... silly. |

I have said it before and I will say it again.....
How much more proof do we need that they purchased GL to get rid of it? _________________ Greed is what caused GL's demise and that just makes me sick. Lets do what we can to rat out Kinzel - hes a snake.
In the end the truth will come out and we will then see whos laughing at who. |

Like Coasterdad has said many times, this erasure of all traces of the park's history did not have to happen.
There was an amusement park in the Port Dalhousie area of St. Catherines, Ontario (about 15 minutes from Niagara Falls) from 1902 until 1970. After Lakeside park closed, some aspects of the park were left in place. An 1898 Carousel carved by Looff and Marcus Illions stayed along with a picnic pavilion, swimming area in Lake Ontario and playground. Local businesses and schools raised money to restore the Carousel. It only costs 5 cents to ride the Carousel, but they sell a ton of tickets. It draws people to the area. Nearby are shops and restaurants that are doing very well.

Clearly Geauga Lake had some history worth preserving. The Big Dipper, Palace Theater and Ballroom were all over 50 years old.
It's too bad that there was no realistic plan to save any of that stuff onsite at Geauga Lake. Oh wait, there was a plan by a respected architectural firm to keep the Big Dipper in place that had actual developer(s) involved that had the money to make the plan a reality, not just talk.
It's too bad Cedar Fair's plans for the land were so urgent they could not consider such an option. Oh wait, there is no plan, other than to pay $1 million a year to hold onto the land and watch real estate values drop like Mr. Hyde's Nasty Fall.
Cedar Fair should have at least considered leaving something in place. Cedar Fair's refusal to even consider that plan is the reason that we are not likely to see something like the Lakeside park Carousel emerge at Geauga Lake, despite the fact that there were buyers with financial backing willing to make that work. It would not have competed with Cedar Point but would have preserved some of the 120 years of memories on a small fraction of the land bounded by a busy highway and a fishing dock.
Why they did not consider doing that instead of holding onto to vacant land is one of the biggest unanswered questions of this whole mess. I would like to see Kinzel and Falfas answer that question in an interview. |

So would I. I would guess that if there ever was one the answer would be as vague as everything is now. They would also just lie anyway.
My questions is, why no real interview on anything about this whole mess? We know for a FACT that this stuff is read by them. We know for a fact that many times Bill ha asked that certain things not be written. We know for a fact that Dick cringes at some of the stuff here, especially that quote by Innes.
So why not come out of hiding ans say something? Because they are weak little people who hide and lie behind others. _________________ Greed is what caused GL's demise and that just makes me sick. Lets do what we can to rat out Kinzel - hes a snake.

There's a reason that, when the Romans finally conquered Carthage after many wars, they destroyed every building and even salted the land to make it an agricultural wasteland. It was to make sure their rival would never, ever, under any circumstances, rear its ugly head again. |
