|

I saw on another thread that Waldameer's owner was quite pleased with their results in 2008 and is planning to introduce a new ride/attraction in 2009. I'd really like to know what they're planning to add. Does anyone know if they have the space for another coaster, even a hand-me-down like GL's old double loop.
Waldameer is a great story. We made 2 separate trips to Erie (from Cleveland area) this year, and Waldameer's RF2 was a big part of the reason, although we've always made some short trips to Presque Isle each summer.
I love seeing Waldameer get rewarded for actually BEING what Geauga Lake WAS and could have still been.
And how about the good fortune they had for RF2's intro? After years (a decade?) of planning, it's finally launched at a time when 2 of its 3 nearest competitors are out of business. Magic touch! |

Waldameer can actually double in size. Around the park are trailers and modular homes. The park still owns the land they're on and just leased it to those who live there.
Mr. Nelson said something interesting at the Great Ohio Coaster Club event last month, he said he hopes it doesn't take another 15 years for their next coaster. If he ment 15 years from wanting to build one to opening or just a new one within 15 years I'll leave up to you.
As for 2009's possible ride, I think it will be something really unique. Beats me what it might be, though. |

I'd really like to visit Waldameer for my 2009 vacation. I didn't get to go like I wanted to this year but next year is looking good. _________________ Geauga Lake I will miss you! |

I hope the best for Waldameer! I really have enjoyed it the last two years! I also hope that as it grows, it keeps the happy feeling it has and not turn comercial! Too bad the Dipper could not have been bought by them. At least it would have been cared for there and people would enjoy the beauty of that ride! _________________ Life is like a rollercoaster. I really like what they plan on adding. I got my information from screamscape...and on the article I read...the owners of Waldameer really know how to operate a park. Investing in the park is everything.... cedar fair... i think they should be taking notes. _________________ Geauga Lake I will miss you! |

Just in case anyone was still wondering Waldameer is doing a "Mega Disko" thrill ride this year. There are pics on their website. www.waldameer.com
I'm from Erie, just found this site and forum yesterday.. didn't even know Geauga Lake closed... I can't believe that didn't reach Erie news, but for some reason it never did. How sad that CF did that |

Welcome to the forums cpbabygirlz2003. I cant say enough good things about Waldameer. RF2 is in my top 5 woodies of all time! I cant get enough of that ride.
Its unfortunate that most folk in Erie didn't know of the closing but I think that's how the owners wanted it. We are planning an event to raise public awareness of Big Dipper and GL in general. If you have the time please stop by. More information can be found here:
