REDUCED HOURS BEGIN AND A FEW OBSERVATIONS (modified)
Just when it seems like summer has just started we come to the time of year when the kids get ready to go back to school. With this in mind please be aware of the reduced park hours posted on the right side of this page.
(The park is open from 11 AM to 8 PM next week. It is closed the week of August 27).
It was another very busy day out at the Lake with at least two more companies having an outing. The above photo shows what the midway looked like just prior to my leaving for the day, which was about 7:00 PM. With the cooler than usual day there was definitely a feeling that more people were riding rather than enjoying the water attractions in Wildwater Kingdom, which did have its share of guests but it was nowhere near the levels it was last weekend.
I do have one pet peeve and I'm noticing an increase with every visit to a park, not just GL. I don't know why some guests, particularly those in their early teens, have to find it necessary to spit everywhere. I was waiting in line for my second ride on Dominator and these kids in front of me were spitting into the water below the drop out of the station. At one time some did come back and hit me on my hand. Fortunately the oldest person in the group saw it and had the young girl apologize. What's even more gross is that I've seen people spit in Wildwater Kingdom in past visits and with people walking barefoot through there, there's a chance they step in it.
I also noticed quite a few people smoking outside of the designated areas. I watched a guard come up to a guest watching Texas Twister asking to put his cigarette out. It's good to see that some action is being taken but I realize that the park can't always catch everyone especially with the crowds today. The worst offenders were this group smoking in the Dominator line a few people ahead of me.
I would like to send a shout out to the Thunderhawk crew. I don't ride the Hawk that much but I must say they were an excellent crew today. They had the trains rolling with very minimal stacking that is necessary on this ride. I personally would like to thank Gary, who was doing the spiel while I waited for my ride, for speaking very clear with the ride instructions through the wireless mic.
Finally, with the season soon coming to an end so will our tributes to X-Flight and Steel Venom. What I want to do is to take several photos from both galleries and add them to the Time Machine. I don't want to post all the photos so I'm asking everyone who visits the site to take a glance through them and let me know which one's you'd like to see remain on GLT. Just send me an e-mail or PM me from the forums if you're registered with your choice. The photos that get the most mention will remain. You have till October 31st to help me sort through them. Thanks for your help. |

Thanks Gunkey Monkey! I am happy to say that I was impressed with the crew too. I got in at 11:30 and while I was working, I was impressed at the stacking time. We've had some weekends where stacking is terrible and I have to pressure my fellow co-workers to get moving. Of course, those are the days Gary isn't there. But I do my hardest and believe it is my duty to give every guest a satisfied experience on my ride, even if I can't make them happy, I know deep down they won't get any better experience elsewhere.
I'd also like to remind everyone if you feel a crew (or a crew member) is doing an outstanding job, please go to Guest Relations and leave a compliment! Guest Relations is more than for complaints! _________________ 2008 - Cedar Point - Raptor - Crew Member

Michael,
I was at Cedar Point yesterday and noticed that very same thing. Spitting. At GL on my last visit, I saw a lot of it going on where the floating bridge is. Whats worse is the kids parents nearby and they do absolutely nothing about it. |

I hate it too, especially when these punk-morons decide to do it from the train into our water and their spit gets all over the restraint. Or when they do it on the platform (where people walk barefoot). But what am I supposed to do? Say, "You are going to clean that up or you're not riding!"? _________________ 2008 - Cedar Point - Raptor - Crew Member
