Well, the rumor is no longer a rumor, it is now a fact.
After 25 years traveling at the speed of fright, The Big Bad Wolf will take its last trip through Busch Gardens’ Bavarian village Sept. 7.
“We hate to see The Big Bad Wolf go,” said John Reilly, Busch Gardens’ general manager. “We realize The Big Bad Wolf is a guest favorite. We’re making the announcement now so coaster fans can ride one last time before it closes after Labor Day.”

Glad I was able to get a front row ride on it a couple of years ago. It was cool. Wish I could have rode it at night. _________________ "What we do in life, echoes in eternity."

"We realize The Big Bad Wolf is a guest favorite."
Makes you wonder why they are removing it in the first place. I've never been on it but people here say its great. Business executive better be right that a new attraction will bring in more money as this ride. Then again, they have 'hard data' not not just enthusiasts speculation.
Anyone know what they are replacing it with? |

Anyone know what they'd sell it for, or are they scrapping it?
I bet Kennywood, Waldameer, or Knoebel's would be able to give it a nice home, if the price was right. |

More than likely it will be scrapped. I can't see anyone else getting it, especially with the terrain it was built on. _________________ On September 21, 2007, a historic 119-year old amusement park had been secretly murdered. Never forget it. |

I'm sure support extensions can be designed if someone wanted it bad enough. But that's sad that it's terrain based, since that would add a lot to the cost of relocation.
Hopefully it's in good enough condition that some other Arrow owner can use some of the track for spares instead of the whole thing being melted. It seems like old Arrows are going the way of the Miller! |

Sorry for the Double post, but I wanted to add to my thought... I wonder what they will be putting in that area? Plus it is sad that so many coasters that like that one are being retired when they are still popular! But I guess that is the trend now is to make the biggest, fastest, longest to keep up. It is still sad to see that go! I know many don't care for Iron Dragon or Flight Deck, but I think are a cool rides how they flow though the trees..... _________________ Life is like a rollercoaster. This is truly sad news. BBW is a unique ride. Flight Deck and Iron Dragon are no where near the ride that BBW is/was. I'm anxious to get down to BGE later this summer and have a last ride. I've also got to get my 6 year old on it... he's been talking all year about finally being tall enough to ride.
Rumors are indicating that there is going to be a new land in the former Drachen Fire area, and that they fancy the BBW area to build a circulating path to better funnel people in and out of that area (as they blame traffic patterns for Drachen Fire's failure!).
They also intend to build a new attraction -hopefully coaster- to replace the Wolf.
I do know that maintenance was an issue, that the swing caused tons of stress and required constant costly upkeep... but it is a great ride and it is very very sad news! |

Though some may argue with me on how the park doesn't want to spend anymore money to maintain it, I have a feeling that there is something very wrong with it foundation-wise and it is too expensive to fix.
Its seems as though a lot of older Arrow suspended coasters are finally being retired.... perhaps those trains played havoc on the structures. |
