· Quote

Today it is being reported that a 3 year old little boy had drowned this morning at Kalahari water perk up in sandusky. Not too many details have been released. As a parent of 3, this makes my stomach drop. This is the worst possible thing I can imagine.  My prayers go out to that family.

Wow. I go to Kalahari all the time since my grandma lives right down the street. That property that Kalahari is on was actually my step-grandpas land and he sold it to them.

That is truly horrible.  I have been to Kalahari & I love it but the death, unfortunately, doesn't really surprise me.  They don't have the best safety record.

It is still awful.  I couldn't imagine what it would be like to lose my son.  My prayers to the family, too.

How about asking where the parents were?  Just so easy to blame the workers there, but maybe mommy and daddy should have been watching junior.

Well that could also be a possibility, but before we start accusing the parents of not watching the boy, we should get more facts to see what really happened.

update Sad

http://www.newsnet5.com/news/20266186/detail.html

SANDUSKY, Ohio -- Officials involved in the investigation of the drowning of a 3-year-old at Kalahari over the weekend said the mother was in a lounge chair at the time her son drowned.

Meanwhile, the Erie County coroner has ruled the drowning an accidental death.

According to a statement released by Kalahari reports from the Sheriff's Department, County Coroner, Kalahari security, lifeguards, emergency personnel, and witnesses, Hassan Itani, 3, of Dearborn, Mich., was playing with his 6-year-old brother in the kids area of the outdoor water park as his mother watched from a lounge chair on the pool deck.

Another story: http://www.sanduskyregister.com/articles/2009/08/03/front/doc4a75f749cb89c559316245.txt

You'd think if your 3 year old couldn't swim, you'd watch a little more closely.

Quote:

“I think the main thing is the importance of anyone who is by water and doesn’t know how to swim,” Baxter said. “It’s dangerous.”

Mom should have been close enough to yell to Junior to stay in the shallow end.

I would not be surprised in the least if this woman tries to sue.  After all, it is the American Way.
