Why not? It saved them last year. I bet it will again this year.

I don't think it's fair to say that Halloweekends "saved" the park last year... in this day in age of longer seasons, attendance is spread differently.

I'm putting my number one blame on the Detroit market, (which is CP's 2nd largest market) they have been building lousy cars for years and with all the layoffs caused by the greedy idiots running GM and Chrysler, its effecting many businesses.

Yahoo news stated today that some plants may go back into production to meet the demands of the cash for clunkers plan, so we'll have to watch and see if the fear has gone away and people start spending money again.

^The GM CEO that Obama fired actually lives right down the road from me. His house is so awesome. He is a really nice guy though. He was one of the sensible guys in the auto industry.

Hehehe...not quite. The only part you got right is the word "was".

I'll tell you what non-theme park CEO's to give praise to right now... the CEO's of Ford and JP Morgan Chase, and of course, Steve Jobs of Apple.

The fact that a President fired him disgusts me. I mean, do you really want government controlling this much? Kind of like the new health-care plan. You want socialized medicine? My friends brother works for Obama and even he said he was disgusted when Obama fired him. Obama seems to care more about raising the debt than helping the economy.

Wagoner is a good family man and tried his best for GM. He may have not done things right, but he is a very nice man and so is his family. He tried his best for the company.

He might have been a nice man, but his work ethic sucked, someone needed to get rid of him, good riddance and thank you Obama.

The government bought the stock and exercised their voting options to remove the CEO.  If they hadn't, then the CEO would still be out, just from GM being in Chapter 7.

I'm not saying Wagoner isn't a good person or that he didn't try...  I'm just saying that GM almost imploded under his watch, so the stockholders (which happened to include the gov't) asked him to leave so someone else could try.

He probably did need to go, but Obama should have never been the one to fire him.

I still wish McCain would have won. He would be handling this all so much better.Sad

Without a VP, because she would've resigned to go do something else.  Razz

But that's neither here nor there.

A couple things:

I'll agree with Chad here... As the main lender of the bailout, the government had the voting rights to do anything they wanted, that's why it's good that Ford decided against the bailout...they knew they would lose their independence.... whew!

McCain would have definitely handled things differently... and that's a good thing. Did you know that when the bailouts were voted into Congress, that they voted THEMSELVES a $4700 per member raise... (yes, thats OUR money) that's what George W. was trying to avoid.

The US car industry is a tricky venture... while GM was trying to keep up with Honda And Toyota, Toyota and Honda were looking to build cars like Mercedes and BMW... performance-wise, and MORE reliable.... GM never tried hard enough to clear the bar, and Chrysler is trying to find the starting mark.. even still. Ford get it, their CEO toured a Toyota Plant in Japan and actually owns a Lexus.

So again, had things been done differently, Detroit and Cleveland would be in a better position years ago, and we wouldn't have had to worry about substantial job losses in this market and the loss of our Geauga.

It'll get better.

There you go again.

Trying to stir up heated political fights.  Wink

(Guess I should explain that first part is a Ronald Reagan quote, he was President back in the 1900s, before the time of some folks around here.)

CP will have large crowds for Halloweends, but there is no way it will compensate for the poor attendance they had this summer.

You make it sound like there was a huge dip in attendance. Attendance has been down at EVERY park, but the per capita spending per guest has increased so every park is returning profit.

I went to Cedar Point back in July. It was fun, but not as good at Chicago that's for sure. We stayed at our house and ate outside the park. OK place.

I also made it to the Windy City this past summer to visit my brother and do some sightseeing.

Although there wasn't much concrete or great restaurants like Dave's Famous Ribs, they do have many other fine dining establishments and bars. Being a musician I could spend all week listening to a different band every night, unlike other "worlds best everything tourist destinations" that have cheap Karaoke entertainment.

All in all I would some up my Chicago experience as FUN.
