Can someone please explain to me why politics had to be brought into what is a forum for our love of Geauga Lake?
And if we are going to have these debates...the one thing everyone is not discussing is the fact that Europe is coming out of their economic crisis because of GOVERNMENT INTERVENTION. Yes that's right, they were the first to have a "cash for clunkers" program that stimulated manufacturing along with significant government infusion of cash into social and infrastructure programs. These facts can not be denied.
If we had done what the ding-bats on FOX talk about, that being nothing, we would be in a crisis worse than the Great Depression, it really is that simple. It took us years to get to this point and it is going to take YEARS to get out of this mess. Again, these are facts that respectable economists talk about.
Lastly, if you want to point the finger and play the blame game we Americans have nobody to look at but OURSELVES, not Obama or Bush or one party but all of us as a collective whole. The entire global economic crisis is because of USA. We are a greedy and selfish group of people; we want more, we want it for less, we don't care at what expense and now we see the results of that greed due to materialism and irresponsible use of financial tools.
PS. Chicago rocks.
PSS. Halloweekends does "save" Cedar Point every year when it comes to attendance, absolutely. While you can argue people simply have shifted from going in the summer to the fall, I and many others who worked in the industry for a long time understand that the culprit is guests find Halloweekends offers more VALUE for their money than at any other time of the year. They get not only all of Cedar Point but an entire haunted EXPERIENCE. "Experiences" are exactly what people are looking for in our complicated world today (sorry Dick, it isn't 1976 any more!) People are burned out on Cedar Point alone which is a direct result of so much growth from 1989-2003.
You would think executives would learn from Halloweekends. The failure of Cedar Fair is to create that sense of VALUE in the late spring and early summer months when they could easily implement things like a Flower and Garden Show, Steam Train and Railroad Exhibition, Sports Festival, Classic Car Show, etc. Hopefully with the change in management in the coming years we will see more sensible decisions made to address this issue of creating more value for the money folks spend at Cedar Point. |

Yeah, exactly. When politics get brought up at the bar, I order a shot, a beer, and ignore.
What's next, bringing up religion on this forum? Even though you all know that its Roman Catholic or hell. _________________ I don't like a certain company so everything they do MUST be wrong, even if it's right. And that makes me look like a bigger fool.

Cedar Fair should look at what's been going on at *gasp* sister park, Kings Island. For years they have constantly had special events through the summer to get people out to the park. Last year they had three of the Brady Bunch "kids" there, a Skyline Chili eating contest, Nick Wallenda first walked the wire there (now he's appearing at all the parks it seems).
It also helps that they have TimberWolf for concerts. While not big name, arena type concerts they have had major Christian music acts, cheerleading competitions, concerts and appearances from TV shows (Raven Symone for example).
Maybe not all of this would work at CP but it wouldn't hurt them to try. Kind of surprised they just didn't move Oktoberfest to Sandusky to fill that space between Labor Day and Halloweekends.
Heaven forbid if we're going to talk politics, leave it in the "Anything Goes" forums. Don't include it anywhere else. Thank you. _________________ On September 21, 2007, a historic 119-year old amusement park had been secretly murdered. Never forget it. |
