KW just blew away anything that CP can come up with for 2010. Way to go KW, too bad CP will be losing more guests to KW again in 2010.

Does Kennywood get over 3 million visitors a year? Don't think so.

Whatever Kennywood is building will definetly not blow away CP's new woodie. I will bet you a million dollars CP's new ride will give more rides than this new ride Kennywood is building.

Wrong again CD.
And your point is? A park's attendance has nothing to do with how good a park really is. We should visit Kennywood sometime, not to prove anything, but just so that you can experience it in person. Trust me, you will not be disappointed.

Ah, but at Kennywood you can take a group of 4, eat both Lunch and Dinner in the park, and Ice Cream, all for under $150 if you pre-buy your tickets at AAA or Giant Eagle.

And Kennywood has older, classic rides that Cedar Point doesn't, and that are well taken care of.  Kangaroo, Bayern Kurve, a Whip, etc.

They really aren't even in the same class.  CP caters to teens and thrill-seekers.  KW caters to Amusement Park fans and people who enjoy a wider selection of rides.

So? You can get discounts on CP tickets at AAA too.

Food may be cheaper at Kennywood, but we are talking about a park experience with rides, quality, and quanity. CP wins in that. You onl pay $10 more and you get more rides, shows, a beach, and more of everything.

CP does have old, classic rides. Magnum, Blue Streak, Cedar Creek Mine Ride, Corkscrew, CP & LE Railroad, and that's just naming a few.

But I hit every ride in Kennywood that I could in a full-day visit (noon-10) with less than 20 minute lines on each, and still didn't ride three of the five coasters, two of the dark rides, Aero 360, Bumper Cars, Swings, the white rapids, or the shoot-the-chutes.  (Among many others.)  No arcade time, either.

So really, do you need more rides?

Point is, you get better value at CP. They have more rides, attractions, etc. for only $10 more. Kennywood may be a good park, but I just don't see the value in it that CP has.

Because it still has more rides than you can ride in a day and is cheaper, you don't see the value?

Your logic needs more -fu.

Kennywood has many rides that you won't find at any other park, including Cedar Point. Rides such as the Noah's Ark, Turtle, Garfield/Old Mill, Kangaroo, etc are some of the last rides of its kind in the world. Their wooden coasters in Jack Rabbit, Racer and the Thunderbolt are also among some of the best in the world and would beat Cedar Point's anyday. These coasters are considered to be some of the top 10 wooden coasters anywhere. Also, Cedar Point doesn't have a coaster like the Racer, in fact, not many parks do.

Also, Kennywood has managed to preserve many of the park's trees and other buildings, something that Cedar Point has lacked. I expect many of the trees to stay put even as they build their new coaster. Also, Pittsburgh outweighs everything that Sandusky has to offer.

Point is (no pun intended) your very very wrong in your logic Parker (or whoever you are). Lower prices and better quality food, oh yeah free parking. Sorry but in my book and most everyone else here that equates to a MUCH better value.

So far your losing. Keep your lame excuses coming because you amuse me.

Agree, to disagree I guess. I think CP is good value for what it is and maybe Kennywood is, but I'm just not seeing it.

Neurodistortion,

Kennywood may have better woodies, but let's remember CP has a great woodie called Blue Streak. CP also has way better steel coasters. MF, TTD, WT, Maverick, Magnum, etc.

AF, Cedar Point is not all about their coasters, just as KW is not all about theirs either. Blue Streak is a great woodie, but I just happen to prefer Kennywood's woodies better. As for steel, Kennywood's Exterminator is better than Disaster Transport in that the former spins and has a much better experience. The Phantom is better than Magnum in that it offers a better experience and the second drop is also much more thrilling than Magnum's Lake Erie view. I won't comment on their newest steel coaster but I think it'll beat one of Cedar Point's coasters as well.

Until you ride 'em, you really can't say they're better.  And even then, what's better for you isn't better for me.

Blue Streak is a decent woodie, but nowhere near a great woodie in my book. The trains have pretty much ruined BS for me. KW's coasters are just plain classic, and oh yeah, there is another great woodie in Erie that blows away BS.

One more thing, NO ONE can rate a park until, they have actually been there. Most everyone on these boards has been to both CP and KW and I feel can legitimately say what park is a better value. There is one poster who hasn't and their opinion means zero - and who again has been proven wrong.

I'm not rating Kennywood. I'm just stating what I see and hear about Kennywood.

I said CP has better steel coasters, because according to their website, they have 2 I believe? They may be good coasters, but CP's Maverick, MF, Magnum, and TTD probably blow them out of the water. I haven't ridden them, but I'm just assuming. Besides ,wouldn't you rather want more coasters that are OK in your opinion than just 2 good ones?

BTW, those coasters are great, but I'm being hypothetical.

I'd rather ride 6 awesome coasters at Kennywood and ride the rest of their rides than go there and stand hours at a time in line to ride 6 awesome coasters and the rest not-as-good, which is what Cedar Point's coasters really sum up to be. And also, you can't just assume that what you're riding at Cedar Point is the best out there. Yes, Cedar Point may have some good coasters, but there are so many parks to go to. You like to debate that Cedar Point is better than all of these parks even though you've never been to any of them, and that's not the way that it works in the amusement park industry. You visit all the parks, THEN you talk about them.
