So, Villain...you know, and you're just not speaking?
All of Cedar Fair's "investing" in Geauga Lake was just a bunch of low cost, cosmetic changes (paint, etc). Show us a new ride!!!!
I hope you still have a job next season. Villain is my ultimate favorite roller coaster, btw, with Dominator being second. |

Terrible Analogy, Coasterdad!
Cedar Fair has an excellent return policy. If you buy a pass the first day it goes on sale, and end up not liking what you hear in the offseason, you can return the unused voucher for a full refund. Can you get a full refund on a car if you buy it but don't drive it? Can you get a refund on sporting event tickets if you can't go to the game?
And I thought you weren't buying a pass anyway, so why does it matter?
I plan on buying a pass, because even if the worst case scenario comes true, $140 for Cedar Point, Kings Island, and Canada's Wonderland, not to mention the other parks, is a great deal!
I seriously doubt the park will miss you as a guest. They have investors to answer to, not coaster fans who spread rumors. I was at the park yesterday, and it was busy. They don't need you, and you shouldn't need them. I understand how there may be an emotional attachment there, but things change, and sometimes we lose the things we love. It could be much worse. I'd rather lose a thing I love than a person I love.
Just my $0.02,
Sam _________________ Don't let your tax dollars go to waste!

Well, Sam, I agree with you about the voucher and returns...that is true. We had to return my mom's voucher because she died last Christmas, and they did it w/o a problem.
However...I think what Coasterdad means is that he's not buying a pass if GL closes or shrinks down to almost nothing.
Also, I think I can speak for just about all of us GL fans on board that we think Cedar Fair is making a huge mistake (assuming these rumors are true)!!!
Some of us don't really care for CP. Too big, too crowded, too overrated. And KI this past August wasn't all that impressive, either. CW is a nice park, however, their waterpark is lame and I cannot really see myself traveling all that way more than once a year. I simply prefer Geauga Lake and Knott's Berry Farm (which I am completely aware it is farther than CW) over the rest.
CF has their heart in the wrong place. All they care about is $$$, and while I know that is a great help in making a business a success, it shouldn't be the only thing they are focused on. GUEST EXPERIENCE is equally, if not more, important!
If a guest has a bad experience, will they be very likely to return? Maybe if they have a season pass, but otherwise, no.
Lastly, Avalanche Sam, I remember you from Pointbuzz. I am kindly asking you to please not turn into those a-holes on there. That site is full of jerks. I was appalled that even the MODERATORS on that site were just downright mean and showed absolutely NO professionalism. Is Pointbuzz an example of the main park they are representing? God, I hope not.
Just another reason to dislike Cedar Point. |

The park does need him and everyone else. Also, yesterday was a private event. I don't think the problem is what they are doing, just how they are doing it. Leaving people in the dark is not good pr. If you anger the few patrons you have left, who is going to return? Maybe we have to lose something we love, all we ask is to have the decency to tell us. _________________ CEDAR UNFAIR COWARDS!!!!!

I never said I knew anything about the rumors. What im says is not to get so worked up about rumors. Why would anyone who knows if theres any truth to these rumors email coasterdad, Gunky Monkey, this site, or any other site about this. I'm pretty sure those people who would know any of this stuff like their job, and they wont leak any information that shouldn't be leaked. I really doubt the north side will end up closing after this year. Alot of the parks revenue comes from the north side. People dont spend money when there sitting in a wave pool, in there bathing suits with no money on them. People spend money on the rides side when they're walking around, wether it be buying a funnel cake, playing a game, going to the arcade, shopping in a gift shop. That simply doesn't happen when they're in a water park. They actually moved the games that used to be on the southside, becuase no one spent money on them while they were in the water park, becuase they were wet and didn't have wallets on them. The park cant get away with charging $25 for just the waterpark, after they've charged $25 for both rides and a waterpark. I see the park becoming like dorney park. People spend most of the day in the waterpark, but ride rides in the morning and in the evening. The rides side can actually get pretty busy once the waterpark closes in the evening. Please note: these are just my own personal views on the park. _________________ RIP Geauga Lake |

I honestly have no idea what to believe anymore, because stormchaser does have a point that she would probably know first before us. But then again CF is very sneaky and snaky, then everyone is saying the north side got sold, but then it's the revenue part of the park. This is split down the middle cause I'm thinking one way one moment then the next the other. It's real confusing. I'm just gonna sit an wait cause I really don't have an option till the 3 week in October, I'm goin up to CP. I hope everyone who goes up to GL this weekend has fun and the time of their lives. I wish I could go up. _________________ TOP 5 FAVORITE RIDES: 1.Maverick. 2. BATMAN KNIGHT FLIGHT( forever at SFWOA). 3.X-flight( forever at SFWOA). 4. Millenuem Force. 5. Phantoms reveng |

One more thing, if they were planning on selling the north side, why would they have moved almost all of the full-timers offices, administrative offices, and cash control to the north side? The park is pretty much ran out of hte north side. I also believe that if the north side got sold, we would have heard about it by now. By either the person who bought it, or zoning boards coming out and saying that it was already bought, and it would have been in the news. _________________ RIP Geauga Lake |

The food service situation is another reason to hope the rumors about leveling the north side are greatly exaggerated.
There would be serious food service problems if everything is moved to the south side. There are no operating full service restaurants on the old Sea World side – the old Mama Rosa’s location attached to the ski stadium is still there, not sure what it is being used for. Even if its food service capabilities are intact, it dates back to about 1970 and is in an aging stadium that they or may not have any future use for. Most of the smaller stands like Popcorn n’ Beer are gone, Tidal Wave Refreshments is a shadow of what it was as Lakeside Café, which once was essentially a full fledged fast food restaurant/burger joint. On the north side there is a full service restaurant in Beachcombers that dates to 1986, a recently renovated cafeteria in Jukebox Café, the Lakeside catering facilities and lots of smaller stands. All that stuff would cost a ton to rebuild on the south side.
Sell the north side for condos? Even assuming it would get zoning approval, who would want to live across from a busy and noisy amusement/water park? Although some might, it would make them less marketable and would limit what could be done on the south side as far as noise and light, which would be virtually invisible from Route 43 to begin with. Unless Cedar Fair plans to close everything (which wouldn’t make sense either after all the money they invested) I don’t see condos going in, although some commercial use of the land along Route 43 or parts of the parking lots might be more of an option. |

It would be sad to see all that history turned into condos. I'm real angry over that. I only visit the park 2 to 3 times a year. I wouldn't even want to know the frustration yeanz are going threw. I feel real sorry for you guys if you do indeed lose GL. _________________ TOP 5 FAVORITE RIDES: 1.Maverick. 2. BATMAN KNIGHT FLIGHT( forever at SFWOA). 3.X-flight( forever at SFWOA). 4.
