The name of the ride is intimidator, shouldn't it look scary? not like a McDonalds?  I did just realize that  it is made by intiman which is close to the name of the ride. But still nit intimidating to say the least. It looks like it could be a fun ride.

I always wanted to ride a fast moving steel coaster which hugs the ground for the better part of the ride. Sounds interesting.

I just read Screamscape's posting regarding this ride and it appears that the reason for the OTSR is also due to the trouble that larger riders have with the seating on MF and Dragster. If the seatbelt is the problem then why can't retractable seat belts like what was added to KI's Beast and Racer a few years ago as well as what the Chance hypers, including Phantom's Revenge, have been considered?

I also had a thought today. I have to disagree with the reasons behind not seeing the T-bars anymore on Intamins. SFGAdv's El Toro and the new trains added to SFNE's Bizarro use a new style restraint bar. Though I haven't ridden El Toro, that coaster's first drop sure looks like it could rival I305's first drop.

Anybody else notice on how it looks like a Giant Mega-Lite?

I'm still waiting for the final product to see if these indeed will be the exact restraints... I'm thinking they will be altered from the Maverick ones.

This ride will all be about fast curves and speed, I think it feels a little short, considering they are going all the way up to 300 feet, but that's okay. I'm also glad they didn't build Millennium Force Part 2. The transitions should be incredible, that first curve will burn off a lot of speed.

I don't mind this color combination, KD has nothing else that color scheme and even though we have seen a few Red Cedar Fair rides, each have been different shades and tones.

They like to play the color design throughout the company:
GREEN: Raptor, Hydra, Wild Thing
YELLOW/TEAL: Steel Venom, Twister, VooDoo
PURPLE/ORANGE: Behemoth, Talon, Dominator
CORAL/Light Blue: Carolina Cobra, Xcellorator

Red feels "Fast", so it will work with TTD, This and the Carowinds Race car Theme.

First of all, I don't like the new color scheme, looks too similar to Maverick. Secondly, why go with OTSR's when they could simply go with lapbars? They claim that it's because the larger passengers aren't going to fit with the lapbars in place, but OTSR's are just going to cause more discomfort especially with all those airtimes. At least Kennywood's new coaster will have lapbars even though that ride will have a 90 degree drop and 3 inversions.

John, I thought at one time Mantis had a Purple/Orange scheme.

It clearly says in the media kit that its a "open design with overhead lap-bars (no over the shoulder harnesses)"

Where does it say that?  This Press Release CLEARLY states "overhead lap bar with shoulder straps".

Cedar Fair, who some say can do no wrong, wouldn't give out incorrect information, would they?

Regrading Rays above post I will be using my favorite new quote again to describe one pretentious kid who thinks he can do no wrong.

OTSR are more uncomfortable than anything.  And their theory about the larger passengers is wrong.  When I tried to ride the Maverick this year, I wasn't able to because after several times of pushing down on my restraint (which was super tight on my boobs but moreso on my stomach hernia), my OTSR was released by the ride host and the girl just said: "I'm sorry" and walked away, not even saying I couldn't ride or anything.

I was never told by my doctor that I couldn't ride after my last hernia repair (November), but I know I have another one that gets quite uncomfortable when they push down on those things...almost to the point where I can't breathe.

Also, when I was unable to ride Mav, another guy on the same train wasn't able to ride, either.  He wasn't even that big!  So I don't understand those so-called "sensors" they have.

Terrible dissappointment I agree with Gunkey on this one.  When I heard it was announced I was really pumped to read about the ride then I saw the lay out and said screw it.  Looks like it gonna hurt alot.  At least its next to anaconda which hurts aswell.[/img]

First off, well played Ray.  Your sense of humor is great, as usual.

My initial reaction to the layout was a little bit of disappointment, but the more I looked at it the more I liked it.  Its definitely different, and that's good.  One thing I loved about my MF rides was the sustained speed, and it looks like I-305 will be able to do that.

The "shoulder straps"?  Darn.
