Hi everyone,
I found this video on Youtube of the Super Hero waterski show.
The video states that it was shot at Cypress Gardens, but someone in the comments section says it is from Sea World, Orlando. However, I was thinking it might be from our Sea World - isn't that the Sky Scraper in the background? You can see it several times, best seen at the 12 second mark, 1:27, and again at the end.
What do you think?

being a season pass holder at cypress (before they got rid of the rides) I assure you it is not Cypress Gardens. 1 the lake is way to small to be at CG, 2 there has never been a "space needle" at CG. CG has (had) Island in the Sky which had a large platform/seating deck on an arm that lowered and raised, not an erect tower type thing. I can see how one would think it was CG because lots of things in the video are very typical of the ski shows at CG. ie the stacked up skiers with flags. I am curious as to where that show was at though. |

This looks very much like Sea World Florida. The water ski lake there was not very large... and as I recall, the needle was in behind the stage. Let me pull out a map when I can find and I will repost.

Interesting video. Definitely not Sea World Ohio and Geauga Lake though -- not enough trees for 1978 at the far end of the lake, different buildings and the lake also looks smaller than GL. |
