I just saw the posting on Screamscape about this. It's one of those "What the heck!?" moments that appear every once in awhile. I realize that Knott's is rather tight when it comes to space but this does not make sense. With DD being the last of its kind in America I wonder where all the spare parts are coming from. They should have used up most of Hyde's old parts by now.

Magic Mountain just removed theirs a couple of years ago so this ride isn't anything new for SoCal.

What the ????

Well, the ride should operate more in Buena Park as DD seemed to close if someone passing by was sweating (moisture on the track = bad).

Maybe they are freeing up the space to install Big Dipper...  Rolling Eyes

They are taking out my favorite ride!  I never got a last chance to ride this.  I am so boycotting Cedar Point now!

Remove Disaster Transport, and you have enough room for that GCI that was supposed to go to CGA! Smile

I am really upset with this news! I love the Demon Drop!!!! Why does it seem seem like every ride I really enjoy keeps getting moved!!! Like I sadi on PointBuzz, I  hate the fact that I have to travel all over the country to ride some of my favorite rides like the Dominator and Thunderhawk! I am still trying to recover from the loss of my home park of Geauga Lake!!!!!!!

Cuddy. We all know demon drop wasn't your favorite ride!!

And I'm pretty sure they aren't taking out woodstock express anytime soon, So your boycot can hold off atleast a couple more years.   lol

I really liked demon drop the last couple years since they swapped over the stopping mechanisms from Mr.Hydes. It deffinatly seems like they are clearing that area out possibly for something.

If the weather is not too bad, we make take a ride out sunday for a couple last rides.

We are going to try for Sunday! I think they are up to something in that are too! They are selling that other ride Chaos! The part that doesn't make sense is why would they remove a ride that is a trademark of Cedarpoint and still gets ridership plus its 26 years old to move to another park? Wierd.. Just a thought...

I have to agree with Gunky. Why would they waste time and money removing and relocating this antique ride. After all GL's was removed because it was obsolete and could no longer be repaired.

CF, you make no sense in everything you do anymore. Just an old man showing his age I guess.

Do you even have to ask anymore? It is another example of the clueless leadership that cp has to suffer through. The dude  needs to go away already.

They may be preparing for a new coaster in 2011. Maybe they will get rid of DT and put a coaster there and have it go over where DD was.

Then again maybe not.

No way CP will get major rides to years in a row, that you can count on.

Wicked Twister (2002) and TTD (2003).

Those were two major rides in a row.

I hardly call an impulse coaster a major ride.

Ffejie, you don't understand, Demon Drop is like family!  Every year I went, I would ride it.  To lose this great ride is like losing Big Dipper.  For Cedar Fair to just not drop the bombshell that the ride is departing is unfair because I don't have a last chance to ride it!  I can't scrape up the money to visit this week or next week.  Why couldn't they make this announcement earlier so everyone could have had "one last ride".

I'm so upset about this, I might have to call off work today!

Puker, WT and TTD were before CF racked up tremendous amounts of debt. They don't have deep pockets anymore.
