Just a quick note to those on GLT: You all know me and know I don't go to CP. I had the chance to go for just 15 dollars on closing day and get a credit in. I wasn't there to ride a lot, more for the Haunts then anything. We took our time and was not running and had a wonderful time with one of the best friends I could ask for. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask!

Those of you that know me, know that I haven't been to CP in almost 5 years. I decided to take the day and go up with my best friend to close out our season on some awesome coasters! Here are some of the highlights.

-First time on Maverick. BAD a** RIDE! Got a walk on ride in the morning. The night ride was so amazing in the front seat! Fog everywhere, speed, airtime, cold, launch, airtime out the wazoo. There are no words to describe our night ride. Great ride!!!! Loved Maverick!

-Maggie is still running awesome. Got 4 rides in throughout the day. Got the last train of the season at night. The train was full and it was just so amazing. We crested the top of the 2nd hill and you heard just complete silence! It was just amazing! Airtime galore and I have the bruises to prove it!

-Saw Dick Kinzel in the park. We walked past and Jeff said this *cough* A**Hole *cough* Was very funny and worth it. That one was for GLT! lol Also saw Bill Sphen and Bryan Edwards on the midway today. No lanyards for Demon Drop though. UGH!!!

-Midway Market had a special for 11.85 a person. Decent food. Some of the food you could tell it was instant (the mashed potatoes and stuffing). The chicken was really good though!

-Chris Linn does the magicomedy show in the Jack Aldrich theater. Cute show, was nice to get out of the cold for a little while. Good comedian and magician combo. He was funny. He had great sarcasm.

-Rode the train and skyride a few times today. Did I say it was pretty cold?

-Ferris Wheel was great too! It is bitter cold up there!

-We went through the Boekling Estate (old admin building). They did it up really nice! I didn't see a whole lot, due to me clinging to Jeff for dear life and hiding behind him.

-The Happy Jacks Toy Factory was AMAZING! They really did a nice job in the house. So good that it is permanently housed in the Disastor Transport building. It was really decked out and the guys in the haunt were good! They scared the crap out of me. They found that if I saw them at first they didn't scare me but got behind me and got me to jump five feet while yelling. The ending was really creepy and welllllllll weird.

-Rode Disaster Transport. What can I say about it? Uhhhh it's still there. Nothing special to report.

-Rode Demon Drop twice today! Gonna miss her! What a great drop ride. What a sucky transition! LOL

Most of the lines were short all day. Maverick got about a 35 minute wait in the evening, but it was well worth it! We took some pictures for you all to enjoy. Thanks for reading! Pictures can be viewed at My Pictures

Nice to see you had a great time at the park voted #1 in the world!

Got it in before Parker, hehe!

I may have to make it out next year for a Halloweekends...never been to any Haunted House (or for that matter nor have I ever been to a strip club).

Take a stand against coasters that hurt or kill people.  Holiday World & Knotts Berry Farm, we are watching you!

Nice TR, Katie. My comments are interspersed throughout.

My first ride on Maverick, I was less than impressed.  It took me two years to finally “get it”.  Best coaster in the park in my humble opinion.  It was nice that CP didn’t feel the need to build a 500-foot coaster or some stupid “-est” coaster and instead focused on making a great ride.  I know some folks complain that they cut back on the theming when compared with the artist rendering, but honestly, do you even notice the rock walls and caboose out there while on the ride?

For a 20-year old Arrow, Magnum is definitely running great.  I’ve found that riding in a .2 seat saves me from the bruises.  These old bones are getting too brittle to handle those bunny hops in any other seat, especially 1.3.

Also saw Bill Sphen…

Despite the cold temperatures, was he sweating profusely?  I really hate Technologically Impaired Kinzel but I think I may hate Sweaty Bill even more.  Lying, Spineless Yes Men make me physically ill.

Interesting to hear that.  I’ve never been a fan of the Point’s chicken… although it has been a good 6 or 7 years since I last had it.  And that $11.85 is actually a steal by CP standards.  Hey, you had to eat, right?  Wink

Word on the street is that the Point went all out on both this and the Toy Factory haunts in terms of detail and set design.  That’s great to hear as my lone memory of a CP Haunted House was from 1996.  As I remember, set design was far from a priority back then.

The transitions really are awful.  Since Knott’s seems to be upgrading the ride with a magnetic brake system, I wonder if they’ll smooth out that transition.

Thanks for sharing your TR Katie.  I’ll check out the pictures later.  I’m sure they are great though.  Your prior work is nothing short of excellent!

Thanks Ray!

Yeah, we really didn't want to leave the park to go and eat and saw that MM had that deal. It was OK food. It was far from the best I have eaten in any park.

The first ride I was pinned in pretty good. The night ride is what really brought Maverick to a whole new level then earlier in the day. I get Maverick and I really like it. It is very different from the others in the park for sure.

Bill looked in deep conversation with someone as we walked past, wouldn't shock me if under his jacket was stained all the way to his belt buckle, lol!

Both Haunts were really decked out and the people were amazing as scaracters. They kept in character and really did a great job.
