I think they announced it last year right before it was  taken down that X-Flight was leaving and then Steel Venom left later.

Yeah, they originally said the rumors about it leaving were completely false. They didn't say it was true until Cedar Fair confirmed it.

Has the stuff on Scream Scape been confirmed or is the stuff just rumors they've heard? I didn't believe the rumors last year until I saw X-Flight being dismantled and sent to KI. Is anything going on at the park today any photos? I miss X-Flight at GL it was my favorite coaster. I love the feeling of flying.

Looks like the worst rumors about closing down the ride side and dispersing the rides to other Cedar Fair parks were true, accoding to the Fox 8 WJW website.  A sad day.

But thank you to eveyone on this website who encouraged people to get out there one last time.  I got there 3 times in the last 29 operating days, including the last open to the public day before Octoberfest.  Even better, my kids will now have some fun memories of Geauga Lake because of this website.

So thanks again.   They can't take the Time Machine and the memories.

I am in shock. I can't believe they are closing the ride side. I have been going here since I was a kid. It will be hard to see the rides go and GL close as an amusement park. I have years of fun memories at this park that I will always remember. What a sad day in history. Crying or Very sad

It's CLOSING!

It's been Kinzelled.

They rode into town and trampled on us. And for some reason, they think people are just going to get back up and trot off to Sandusky one after another like lemmings.

Northeast Ohio is now left without an amusement park. Euclid Beast was right. They bought it to kill it.

Cedar Fair got rid of the wild side and thought that was a good idea.

It wasn't.

Then they trashed the existing water park and built another, not even finishing what they said they were going to build.

What a good idea.

Then they cancelled the Haunt, thinking that was a good idea.

It wasn't.

Then they ripped out two coasters that someone else had built and further shortened the season, thinking that would boost attendance. (!?!)

Then they decided to close the ride side, didn't have the guts to say anything about it, thus leaving us with a water park (big deal) and a non-friendly waste of money amusement park too far away to really matter to anyone here. They could have made a nice pile of cash if they had announced this ahead of time, but apparently they're idiots and didn't see that.

Cedar Point is what soured me on the whole coaster thing in the first place. If you love coasters, you're going to spend a good part of your time standing in line. For hours. And you're going to pay a lot of money to do it.

Hey, now that sounds like FUN! Uh, no, come to think of it, it wasn't.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm sorry. I'm really having a hard time with this. It's starting to sink in now.

This is even sunk in yet. They should give back to the fans and open up for one more weekend. Bill is a porker who should be fired and live on well fair for the rest of his life. He knew what was going on the whole year. He is a queer and I liked him a lot before.

I have been visiting GL since I was a child and my favorite memories are when Sea World and Geauga Lake were around. I missed the animals when Cedar Fair bought the park but I still continued to go to the park. I was upset when they bought the Paramount parks because I thought they were taking on too much debt. I was upset when they removed 2 coasters from the park in 06. I'm upset that they are closing the ride side down. Maybe if they can get attendence up they will rebuild the park around the water park. I think they will save the ferris wheel, dodgems,  carousel and The Big Dipper and send at least some of the rides to the water park side. They have a new water park opening in Columbus next year and they have a  classic coaster and flat rides why can't WWK? I feel they should give the public one more weekend to ride before they start dismantling rides so people can visit the park and say Good Bye to GL. I also feel using GL before WWK is bad they should just call it WWK because people think of GL as an amusement park.
