· Quote

In my first edtion of random rumors and notes, I will be talking about the recent rumors for Geauga Lake, and it doesn't look good at all.

First off, we all heard the rumors about Dom and Thunderhawk leaving, well alot more may be on it's way out after this weekend, and when I say alot more, I mean the entire ride side maybe gutted and leveled. Rumor has it, Cedar Fair no longer owns the north side of the park where the rides are currently located. Even tho this is just a rumor, it's a very strong rumor, and has a great chance of happening

On a more brighter side, there has been construction markers spotted in the south(waterpark) side perferd parking lot area. I was told it was electrical. Also there has been some clearing of trees and brush along side Geauga Lake Rd.  in the area of Wolf Bobs and the maintance building. Possible expantion? Could be considering they may be re locating a few rides if the above sale of the north side is true.

No matter how you look at it, at the very least, Pepsi Plunge, Dom, and Thunderhawk will be gone, with Dom and Thunderhawk having new homes. There was a rumor floating around that Pepsi Plunge would be replace with a new log flume located somewhere else in the park.

To close this out, all I would suggest is go out this weekend, enjoy the north side to it's fullest, and let your voice be heard. Keep sending emails, and talk to the higher up's when you see them at one of the parks.

Intill next time, happy Oktoberfest!

Smaller footprint, less competing rides, lower overhead, land value that has skyrocketed - its all making sense now isn't it?

I also suggest you get out there in the last three days of operation this season. It could be the last time you see the park the way we all know and love it. make tons of noise this weekend, let your voices be hard. Do everything and anything legally in your power to make them aware that we don't like whats going on.

Shaggszgn, where did you hear these things?  I am asking because I am very curious, not because I am discounting your info.  It does make some sense though.

My question is this.  If all these things are true, and they are talking about wiping out the entire north side of the park, will they have time to do ALL THAT by opening day, 2008?  That seems like a lot of ride removals, etc. in such a short time.  Would time allow?

"John Wilkins" did say on Youtube that Shipwreck Falls and Pepsi Plunge would have a major overhaul.  Probably be "hauled over" to the WWK!

Oh, don't worry...I will make tons of noise.  The last day of operating season should be interesting, to say the least!

According to the park, the John Wilkins video was a pure scam. It had no intelligence whatsoever, so anybody who believed that video was a fool. While some parts was an update to the rumor, it was in no way approved to Cedar Fair, and just continues to make the park look bad. In that case, we can take that case off our backs, and continue wherever we stopped off in life.

I'm sure it won't all be cleared out by opening day 2008, but if the rumor is true, operations of the north side will be no longer after this weekend, and the clearing of the land will begain.

The only beef I have, is why would they move all the Full-Timers and all of the Cash Control, and all of the offices to the north side?

Good question, DominatorDude.  I completely forgot that they moved the offices over except Human Resources. So I take it that just the front half, bka Crap Corner, is what could be demolished?  If so, how will Dipper fare?

Would they remove big dipper, that's like a historic coaster landmark it's been there forever. If this is true CF just killed a century of history. Man I will really miss this park. Ugh i didn't know all of this back on Aug. 4 (my last GL trip). Thats saddens me to think that that was my last GL trip. It's sad but true that GL is doomed for the worst and probably won't survive 10 years down the rode. Crying or Very sad I HATE CF  Evil or Very Mad

Big changes are a happenin'.  I'm still sticking to my instinct here.  Cedar Fair has never closed a park and they never will.  Geauga Lake is going to be taken down in size and the waterpark will be the main focus with more rides put/moved over there.  I think this is a safe bet.  This is going to be such an interesting offseason as watching the park goes.  I just have such mixed feelings.  Sometimes I think that Cedar Fair is ruining what could have been an awesome huge park but on the other hand, Cedar Fair may also be helping Geauga Lake find its niche that it has not had in many years.  Maybe our park wasn't destined to be a huge mega park.  I really think that Cedar Fair takes a while to do things but when they do do them, they do them right.  I know that all they care about is Cedar Point, or so everybody thinks, but I say let's give them a few years.  I may be eating my words in a few weeks or months but lets just see.  Thanks for reading my ramblings.

Maybe not a huge mega park, but if this rumor is true, it will be the other extreme. If the whole north side is gone, won't that mean there will be ZERO coasters? Maybe they could find a place for BLMR on the south side somewhere, but this is ridiculous. Hasn't Geauga Lake always had at least three coasters for the past three decades?  Maybe Geauga Lake wasn't meant to be as big as SFWoA, but it sure wasn't meant to be as small as Memphis Kiddie Park, either. If this is true, this goes way beyond "scaling down."

I really don't think that they would go that drastic and take away that whole side but who knows.  Well, Dick knows of course.

Dick so stupid thats why he knows. I don't think this guy is smart enough to work in a mail room. Regardless of what happens this year I think I'll always hate Dick Kinzel. He could of been the Savior of this park, but is the killer. I don't care what anyone else says it was stupid to remove X-fligt. No one will ever convince for a few reasons. That ride belongs at GL, not in KI.

I'm thinking most of the employees are tired of hearing most of these rumors. Saturday on the tram a man ask the driver if the ride side will be closed, and he heard that all or most of the rides were sold from a local news station.
The driver said, nope everything will be hear next year, and said go to guest releations...
So this rumor is getting bigger...

I think to save their reputation I think CF should make some sort of statement regarding GL's future. If something's going to be removed next year they know what it is. Come out and say something even if it is a bush league statement.
