While at Holiday World last week, I noticed one of their wave pools is called "The Wave" it peaked my curiosity but when I scoped it out the waves were puny and not worthy of the "Wave" nickname.  I still remember being afraid of the deep end the size of the waves at GL. Oh to relive the days gone by.

Does anyone remember the The Dive In Movies in the old Wave during the beach parties? I'm thinking mid to late 80's. They would show movies after dark while you sat in The Wave - bring that back Cedar Fair!!

The Wave has to be the most legendary former attraction the park ever had.  Definitely one of the first things to roll off the tongue when one thinks of the old GL.

I remember when the bell would go off and the booming voice appears:

"I am THE WAVE!"

Then screams from the kids in the deeper ends of the pool as the wave came out from the abyss. That thing was a capacity monster.

I just remember hearing about the old Dive In Movies and recently I saw somewhere (can't remember if it was local or not) advertising Dive-In Movies.  I think it might have been Beech Bend but I'm not 100% sure.

It would be cool if CF did the same with TWB. Mabey instead of a bell, a siren comes on and a pre recorded voice warns the peeps about an uncomming "Tidal Wave".

I miss The Wave. It was my first Wavepool and in my mind still the best one I have ever been in. When I was little I was scared to death of the big wave but I still loved being in it.

Wasn't "The Wave" the first wave pool in the us or something like that. I never witnessed "The Wave" but it must have been outdated if Six Flags removed it. Other than the sign (Very cool) and the product (Waves) it kinda had an old look to it, and I think Tidal Wave Bay is a much better pool and is a little more current than "The Wave". I do wish that they paint TWB with a better sealer, I mean the waves are small for it's size and the first time I went it it I skined my knee and it was bleeding a little (I got out of the pool) but for a brand-new pool why would that happen?

The bottom of the old wave was far from being smooth. I think it would have been worse actually if you skinned your knee in there.

Tidal Wave Bay could be themed quite nicely actually...

Just some hurricane/ tidal wave themeing with buoys and such, and then right before the waves start they start clanging and flashing lights.  The current alarm is a bit dull...

And while I never was fortunate enough to experience the Wave, it sounds like it was great.  And the dive in movie actually seems like a great idea.  Doesn't seem like a CF thing to do though...

CF wouldn't do it because they would have life guards and people sitting in a pool for a hour is a big risk of someone drowning

I remember the wave so much. It wasn't outdated at all I don't think. SF didn't believe in fixing up stuff. They just believed in removing and replacing. They just decided to put the gay looney tunes boomtown there which was a dumb move IMO.

The wave's alarm was pretty cool too. I don't remember it going "I am the Wave" though. I wish I did. I was scared of the deepend to. The bottom of the wave pool was a little rough.  I remember getting scraped from it. I just LOVED the backdrop of it. The eyes in the wave was so cool. What memories of the WAVE!
