Yah, that's the ride, I don't know what my dad liked the most about the ride, seeing my face when I came off the floor or the fact he got a workout in the process.
Those are my most favorite memories of the park, that simple park with a handfull of rides - no frills, just fun & family, it's still my favorite.  My parents didn't have any money to take us there when I was young, so we & the whole extended family went when my dad had his co. picnic, my dad is 1 of 12 so with everyone there it was like a holiday.

I grew up in the area, so I've seen Euclid Beach (my parents took me there right before it closed - it was "their" first park), Chippewa Lake, & swimming places like Fell lake, Tampson Lake, Silver Springs, Dover Lake (another big heartbreak, I had gone there since they opened) and I'm sure there are others I didn't visit as often that are gone.

It's at a point were there aren't many places for kids (or big Kids) to go to.
It's sad.

oh and I did love fasination when it was around, does any park still have it?

And I thought I was bad @ 45 questioning my memory.  I know, the older us "old timers"  get (I still can't accept that title) the earlier memories tend to fade.
Okay, maybe we're not qute sure what the hell we did yesterday, but those times at GL, when I was young, are embedded in my mind.  I hope I don't ever forget that.

Thank you tine79!!!!! I am glad to hear that someone else (not to mention those who have posted before me!!) remember these rides.  Like I said I don't remember the exact name of The Cage although you needed someone on each side to make it get going.!!!

They were located right in front of and to the west of the funhouse - directly across from the Cuddle Up. I believe they were called Flying Cages. I think they went to Chippewa with Wild Mouse. They are still sitting at Chippewa rotting away.

The ride was also known as the Swinging Gym.  You can see a small page of info here.

This page with a picture of the relocated Corkscrew at Dizee World in India brought a smile to my face, looks like they are taking good care of "Roller Coaster":

Sorry, was not trying to imply we were old, maybe I should say, those of us that remeber more.

tine79, I'm not sure what GL's  cages were called, but most carnivals had them and they were called Swingin' Gyms. They were a real work-out to get them going.

carioque41, I was at Darien Lake the last weekend it was open. They have Fascination and it is located near the U.F.O. ride. I remember getting into that game on really hot days, the air conditioning was a relief. I can still hear the bell ring and the sound of the rubber balls bouncing around. I have a picture with Fascination in the background, I'll have to post it.

Speaking of sounds, what sounds were everyones favorite or reminds you of GL. My favorite was hearing Dominator's roar, I always got goosebumps hearing that. I also miss the old games speeches, "watchy watchy looky looky now, can't win by walking by, come on in and give it a try".

If i recall correctly, the Flying Cages at EBP were called The Swinging Gyms.

I remember riding them. they were a lot of work to actually get them to go over the top.
