FINALLY AN UPDATE AND A GEAUGA LAKE CALENDAR (modified)
If you have read my post on the forums about my disappearance for almost the past month then you'll understand why this site has been stagnant for quite a while. I finally took a drive out to the park to see the skyline missing two familiar rides. Kind of reminds me of Geauga Lake from the early 90's except with Americana, Villain, and the newer main gate.
It looks like framework from Thunderhawk's station roof is out in the parking lot. Is Cedar Fair going to reuse the ride's station in Michigan? While it was one of my favorite examples of "park-itecture" at Geauga Lake, I can see them do it as a cost cutting measure that CF has become synonymous for as of late.
Remnants of Dominator's station is all that's left of the coaster, as you can see from Depot Road and everything that was stored in the back of the park has been removed except for Thunderhawk's trains, which remain by the former maintenance buildings.
I also want to add to this update here that it appears that nothing else has been touched. Villain and Double Loop are still standing. If Beaver Land Mine Ride has been removed you can't really see from the road.
I received an e-mail from someone who is selling a Geauga Lake calendar for anyone who may be interested in purchasing one. There are some pretty good photos. Check out the link on the front page for more.

| Thanks for the update! The pictures of the skyline is sad. I keep hoping that there were be a chance of the park being saved! I can handle the loss of the DOminator and the Thunderhawk, but the thought of the Dipper being moved or the Double Loop being scrapped tears my heart out. I know that the Dominator and the THunderhawk is in driveing distance which is better than the Corkscrew which is in India, but the thought of our rides being put all over the place reminds me of the scarecrow from the Wizard of Oz when his straw was thrown all over the place! |

The snow belt did receive an inch or two over the past weekend. Where I live on the West Side we just had a dusting. _________________ On September 21, 2007, a historic 119-year old amusement park had been secretly murdered. Never forget it. |

We got sooo much rain last night in Pittsburgh. The weather last night was freaky and I went to the Steeler game. It poured almost the entire time then thunder delayed the game. It only snowed once this year in the Steel city. _________________ TOP 5 FAVORITE RIDES: 1.Maverick. 2. BATMAN KNIGHT FLIGHT( forever at SFWOA). 3.X-flight( forever at SFWOA). 4. Millenuem Force. 5. Sad to see they are re-using thunderhawk station. Cheap! I was looking at that calendar, I wouldn't mind having it just for keepsake. Other than that, watching Geauga Lake being taken apart, is like watching a person tied up at stake, slowly burning. Its hard to watch, and emotional. _________________ Geauga Lake I will miss you! |
