· Quote

Even though I somewhat mentioned in another thread in another forum that I wanted to redesign the site but really didn't want to due to the amount of artifacts already posted, I feel as though I should do it anyway since we are, after all, entering another era in GL history (if you want to call it that).

I'm looking for suggestions and/or ideas as to what you would like to see on the site.  The following sections will be returning with the new layout:

Desktops - To Keep the park alive as we boot up our computers.

Rides - Kevster's idea of chronicling all the rides that have appeared at the Lake over the years is a great one but I want to take it a step further. I want to include the years it was in the park, the manufacturer (if possible), and any little details about the ride. Rides and coasters will be two seperate sections.

Buildings - I want to show all the park shops and food stands that were in the park.

Park Scenes - This would basically be a revamped Pictorium.

Sea World - The Sea World photos we have from Rob G. will return.

Park Maps - A necessary part of the site.

Park History - I want to have a page solely devoted to let people read the 119 year history of the park based on the details we know. The early years will be a little difficult.

I already have an idea for the banner logo for the top. I am keeping the name Geauga Lake Today but adding "& Forever" to it as a way to say we will never forget the park now and for years to come.

The part I'm somewhat having trouble configuring is the Time Machine since it is the largest part of GLT.  I will have to phase this section out (sorry Coasterdad) since the entire site will become one huge time machine anyway.  How should the historical photos be displayed on the site?

I appreciate any comments you may have.

BTW, the site will be similar to what it already is - nothing flashy but kept simple and easy for everyone to navigate. It will also have to be redone in phases. Right now I want to get just the basics together with a few pages completed with more added as time goes on.

Great idea! I mean it needs to be done.

Are you keeping with the Wildwater Kingdom?

As for WWK, I haven't thought about it.  Might as well since it probably won't be around too much longer.

I bet CF is going to take Thunder Falls and take it to Soak City. They'll advertise Soak City by saying that Thunder Falls breaks the record for tallest slide complex in Ohio. I wonder if they even dare thinking about that? That would be real messed up if they did.

I see what you are saying about the whole site becoming a time machine, but one thing I like about the current Time Machine section is the ability to visit different eras.  That is a good structure for historical photos in addition to sections for each ride.

I look forward to the future of this site.  If the Euclid Beach Nuts club members still have stuff to talk about, why not us?

For the pics in the Time machine, I'd put them in the new respective categories (Rides, buildings, etc), but either have a button within each section that has historical photos (under rides, then click historical rides). Or, if there are pics of a "current" ride (RWB), but them with the "current" pics and just have the historical pics under the "current" pics.

Ask me if you need any clarification. It's hard to put into words.

Those all sound like good ideas for the GLT site. How far has it come along though?

Geaugaguide had some good photos, ride info and archived sections relating to the Six Flag and CF eras.  I would love to see some of that content preserved somewhere, somehow (it all disappeared shortly after the closing).

Just want to update everyone regarding the redesign.

I have a new banner designed and have three main pages together - rides, coasters, and the links page.  I am currently working on creating all of the individual rides pages. I do need some help on info for some of the rides and I will start a thread for those on the main GL discussion section soon.

I do have the park maps, history, and water park pages created but no content in them just yet. What I want to do with the water park page is chronicle the three different variations from over the years.

I like the idea of keeping the photos from different eras of the park. I was able to look back at how the park looked the first time I was there when I was 10 years old in 1976.

Gunkey, Just and idea but I think it would look cool if you made a gif banner for the site. One could be in Black & White and the other could be in color.

Are you still planning on keeping the same style buttons?
