I look at it this way - it's about time Darien got something and the Motocoaster will be something unique. _________________ On September 21, 2007, a historic 119-year old amusement park had been secretly murdered. Never forget it. |

they have kick a** camping specials too, for like 120 bucks or something you get a trailor, and 4 admissions to the park per day, or something to that effect.
havent been there in a few years, one thing of note, the ride height requirments are a little different there, anything thats 44 inch or so at other places is 48 at darien lake, so my kids couldnt go on much stuff, i wont be going back there till they hit 48 which my daughter is now but my boy is still a year away. Check the website before hand if your kids are under 48 inches to avoid disapointment. _________________ |

Check out YouTube. Search MotoCoaster. There is a video from Zamperla that shows the prototype in action.
This is the same type of coaster as Knotts is getting.
38 mph sounds slow but remember Xflight was listed as 29 mph.
I've started a Darien Lake fansite. darinelakecentral.com to help show the park in a little more detail than the Official website.
The RV's go for ~ 175.00 can sleep up to 6 and include passes for the park.
Seasons pass holders get a discount on hotel / campground prices. |

| I think the coaster looks great. It's the second type. Knotts also got one this year they were first. There's is called Pony Express. This one is called OCC Moto Coaster. DL is alot closer then Knotts. I hope we see alot more of these popping up in parks in the future. I like to see new types of things being made rather then repeats. |

I would not call it a kid coaster. The launch is pretty intense, the rest is kind of like a wild mouse. I say it's more of a family coaster. I was on the first public train on opening day. We stayed in one of the campers that was just behind Twister and Motocoaster. Side note, the young lady operating Twister was great. She sang and talked to riders while it was in motion, and asked if everyone wanted to go again and give them a second ride cycle. Very cool.
cstrwomann, Knotts version is not open yet, so I would not say it was first.
I plan on going up to Darien on the last weekend in May. I will post a trip report then. Been busy, thats why no trip report from DL's opening day. I will say I had a custom made Geauga Lake t-shirt on and a man in a tie said, "Geauga Lake". He turned out to be the new General Manager. Talked with him for a while, real nice guy. It turns out he was an old Funtime Inc. employee who values the old ways. I can only see great things for DL. I will take some video of the park and post it on my web page. Hope to get some of their laser/fireworks show on video. They have a 45 min. show every night after the park closes. Sorry to dredge-up the past, but I find it amazing a small company like DL can afford to do a nightly show, but a big company like Cedar Fair could not even give us one on the fourth of July. Just another example of CF's caring of GL guests. _________________ CEDAR UNFAIR COWARDS!!!!!

Ditto. Unlike another ex-Funtime park, Six Flags abandoning Darien Lake and Parc-7F coming in may have been the best thing to happen to the Western NY park. The Funtime feel is there in spades and the park just has a very GL-feel to it. The flat ride collection is great (Mack Sea Storm, Huss UFO, Fahtze Enterprise, Mack Sleighride, etc.), the coasters are a blast, and the waterpark looks pretty good as well.
Looking forward to what Parc decides to do with DL in the future.

| Darien Lake is the first park in the USA to have a motocoaster. Knotts is the first on the west coast to get one. |

I've been told that Darien Lake's waterpark will open from 11 to 7 any day that the park is open and the temp is over 65. They had the big water slide open on opening day! As for flats, I gotta love that classic Ranger.
Right out of Roller Coaster Tycoon.
DL is really trying. They were working on Motocoaster ALL night before opening day. It was, like all of their coasters, up and running for opening day.
I'll be posting a trip report here after my next trip on May 30th.
I have a short trip report and new video of Motocoaster at my site

| Has anyone rode it yet? How is it on a scale of 1-10? Is it fast, fun, and unique? Give us an update on the ride. |
