besides that, they really cant afford it, they will be selling off or closig more parks in the near future to pay for it. see six flags. _________________ |

Cedar Fair is banking on the sale of GL to help not only with their debt but also with next year's park improvements chainwide.
Sure they can't afford rides the like of Behemoth and the rumored hyper for Kings Island but they can't let the parks stay stagnant. CW will have a super season since Behemoth is the largest addition in the history of that park.
My fear is how they will treat Great America and Carowinds. They've already have had issues with GA over the new 49er's stadium proposal.
As for the hyper, I believe I've read it on Screamscape as well. If it's going where it's rumored to be going you might as well say goodbye to one of the few shaded areas of Kings Island and hello to a much more sterile park. |

| I hope for the best for the other parks! I still wonder what the real reason for the closure of Geauga Lake! It wasn't that small of a park!!! |

I don't really get though how they would make any money by selling a field that was bought for $144 million and is probably not worth anymore then $40 million IMO? (you gotta add in the buyer's market at an all time high)
Right now there is like no demand for a overpriced piece of land in an area that really doesn't need any more store development. |

just remember 144 million c.f. paid for the rides and got the land for free - honestly think about how much those rides cost new - re-hab costs, and everything else that has gone into the rides - so now they sell or keep the rides and have the land to sell for total profit. |

Just confirming here - the decision to close GL was made on September 20th right? There is no way CF knew they could sell of GL land for pure profit a day before that - right?
Just making sure. _________________ Greed is what caused GL's demise and that just makes me sick. Lets do what we can to rat out Kinzel - hes a snake.

The only thing CF wasn't banking on was the current housing economy, otherwise they would have unloaded w/in 2 years of getting it.
They'll still make out, even if they don't get what they're looking for.
I'm am just so heart broken that they've lost a boat load of $ (profit) by not doing so. |

Well what they do in the future will impact whether any of us return. Me I'm undecided as of yet... I am though Anti-cedar fair at least this year, and if this works out great it might stay that way...might not. In any event, if Kings Island gets a hyper it might just turn out like another Cedar Point they tear out alot of very shady areas just to rake in some much needed $$$ _________________ Geauga Lake I will miss you! |

| I would like to see a hyper with tunnels added to KI but I feel they should wait until they get out of debt and move a woodie to KI from GL. I would love to see The Villian at KI. We will have to wait and see what happens. Any photos of the construction?? |
