I know cpboy...I was joking. I don't know who they are, I just have a feeling they've been here before and probably got booted. _________________ Geauga Lake I will miss you! |

| The Rotor guy--always stayed on the ride, I heard he was allowed to stay on all the time cuz he was related to a big shot at the park. I'm 43 and if you ask anyone between 35-45 they always remember him. Geauga Dog was the best too. |

When I was around 7-8 I was in The Wave and someone was about to lose their goggles to the drain/filter in the pool. So I swam to the bottom and got them. When I came up there was a crowd of people watching and cheering me on.
Around the same time I got really sick on the Double Loop and wouldn't ride it again.
I also went to the Hooks Lagoon and my bikini top flew up when I went down a slide and I hadn't realized it. So I was standing on top of a slide around the ship area and everyone was in full view of it. How humiliating!
One time I went swimming in Hook's Lagoon and I wasn't watching where I was going and hit my head really hard, so hard the paramedics came.
Then recently about 3 years ago around Halloween time I went on that newer ride X Flight with my cousin. When the ride first started it stopped while we were going up the hill. Everyone was petrafied, no one made a sound the entire time the ride was going after they fixed it.
Geez, there's so much more too...I'm going to miss that place. |

Well you really had quite a time there...lol. unfortunatly as much as I have been to the lake, theres nothing that can beat that. I really didn't have many funny stories. I bet you laugh at some of that now...its the only thing to make you feel better. _________________ Geauga Lake I will miss you! |

I remember when i was like 5, my dad made me go in Tidal Wave Bay/The Wave/Whatever it was called back then with him. and either it was big to me because i was puny back then, or they watered it down recently, because the waves were BIG. I remember i was floating around in an innertube, a wave came, and flipped me over, and i ended up on shore somehow. and i just laugh, look at my dad and ask "ARE YOU TRYING TO DROWN ME!?" lol.

Your Dad probably had you in The Wave. That was taken out in 2000 and replaced with a smaller wave pool over in the Turtle Beach area. |

My wierdest memory is the smell of the park walking down the midway after closing. It always hit strongest passing the Log Ride...
A sickly smell of algae, grease, redneck sweat, stale beer, asphalt, and suntan lotion.
I once talked with a Vietnam veteran who said the thing he'll always remember was the smell "over there"... and I've heard that smell is the sence most connected to memory. I guess that's true for me.
I also remember walking out one night with some co-workers on my way to the bar in Kent and some wierd noise was coming over the lake from Sea World. The girls started getting freaked out and my manager decided to have some fun with them so he started explaining that the sound was "the rare African Guiba Bird". We had a ton of laughs at their expense.
*edit* Reading through the posts again "mdmmars" just made me remember taking breaks with a couple friends and heading down to the Stingrays to watch the girls pick out bikini wedgies.
They'd be graded on how discreet they were, how attractive they were, etc. Okay... we're pigs. */edit* _________________ Positions Held:

To a 13-18 year old guy....it was worth the price of admission. I'd spend at least a half an hour every trip to GL at the bottom of the Stingray! lol
I remember getting stuck on the Monorail about 20 feet from the station with my aunt and cousin right at closing time. My cousin was freaking out because he is scared of heights. To make it worse, my uncle went to ride the Corkscrew instead of the Monorail, is on the ground saying all kinds of crazy things to my cousin. "Your going to be up there all night" "They're going to need a ladder to get you down" Stuff like that. We where only stuck for about 15 minutes but what a memory. We got off and my uncle and I are laughing, my cousin is a nervous wreck, and my aunt is madder than heck at my uncle for teasing my cousin.

| I dont have very many weird memories, but I guess the strangest thing we did was on the skyride when we were kids. Back in the days before surveilance cameras on rides, we would hop off the ride at the end where it made the turn to head back to the station, (remember the big cement pillar thing it turned around?) and hop back in after it made the turn. My cousins did it all the time, I was such a chicken I did it once and thought for sure I was going to be kicked out. Nobody every said a word though. |
