That's funny about the Sky Glide. I had friends who did that, and I think my brother may have done it once or twice, but I never tried it. You had to make a quick sideways leap onto the narrow cement platform/pillar at the turn around and wait for another car.
Even though I never did it, I did get yelled at for it once. I took a ride on Sky Glide near the end of the night, came back to the station and the ride operator starting yelling that I had switched cars. Denied it ('cause I hadn't) and went on my way.
My brother and I did switch horses a few times on Carousel while it was moving, that was not too bright either! _________________ "It's a very special ride. We want to make sure it has a proper home." CF Spokesperson Robin Innes about the Big Dipper.

I have many memories like most of you here.
Although I have never been on the Stingray slides, I definitely used to watch for about 20minutes each time there for the same reason mentioned before. Only bad part was that it happened to the guys on the slide too
I can remember probably the final time I rode with my dad on a rollercoaster and that was the Double Loop. He's still around but it was hard to see him no longer be able to get in and out of a coaster due to just plain getting old. I'm 32 now and still spend a lot of time at CP so I hope I can keep going strong!
My most general memory is always trying to pickup girls as a teenager. That was always fun. Sometimes you'd meet maybe a couple different groups of girls in one day. It was cool to meet someone from say Michigan or somewhere, but I'd always wished I could meet someone local! I remember really liking this girl once who worked some of the kids games in Rainbow Island. Jess was her name(if anyone knows her, 1990 I think) I was with a group of guys and they all liked her so I didnt say anything to her. But she kept calling me Doogie(Doogie Howser). So I regretted leaving and not talking to her so much that when I got home I knew I just had to get ahold of her. But how? So I made up this fake story in a letter on how my family was having such a bad day at the park or something and this employee cheered us up and blah blah blah and that I would really just like to thank her. And I left my # and that she might remember that she called me Doogie. A week later a went to CP and when I got home, my mom told me some girl named Jess called. Kind of cool that the letter actually worked!
I know this is long but I remember my last fond day at the park was in 93, when I was 17. Took my on again off again girfriend there and was my first time TAKING a girl to the park. Just had a blast the entire day. I remember she would keep switching horses on the carousel like somebody else said, and I thought we'd get in trouble. I remember getting squished on the Musik Express, and also running off and back on again the Big Dipper from 9:30-10:00 to get as many last rides in as possible. The night ALWAYS ended that way. Then seeing the whole front of the park lit up with all the rides(Musik Express/Matterhorn/Tilt-a-Whirl/Yo-Yo's). I will never forget this place! |
