when Fun Time put in the queue line televisions? I remember they played music but I am not sure if they showed music videos or if they advertised for the park? I want to say they advertised for the park.
What I do remember is hearing Radio Ga-Ga by Queen and Sail Away by Styx in line for everything.
Oh, and I don't think this came from T.V.'s but I also remember hearing Sitting By The Dock Of The Bay by Otis Redding every time I was by the Lake shortly after The Wave was built.
How about Twickets? Buy them before you leave and come back tomorrow for half price?
What about "If it rains more than half a day you can come back tomorrow for free" tickets?
I remember a friend and I went to GL around 1993 or maybe 1994 and we bought Twickets and it rained the next day. Not enough to close many rides but enough to be considered half a day. Got the free "Rain Day" tickets and came back the next day for free! 3 days of Geauga Lake for about as cheap as you can get. Maybe $30.00 max per person.
Anyone else remember these things? _________________ Cedar Fair is an ignorant company! |

They also used to advertise the company picnics that were at the park that day on those TV's. I believe the outdoor cabinets lasted into the SF era. Most if not all the que lines still had remnants of the cables that used to run those TV's till the last day.
Speaking of "Sitting by the Dock of the Bay" this video might bring back some memories.

I remember six flags using them because I would always look at them when I was in line for rides like double loop. _________________ Geauga Lake I will miss you! |

Yes, I remember the queue TV's. They used to have "Geauga Lake welcomes ________" (insert company outing here).
They used to advertise the water park, park restaurants, and various rides as well as the occassional music video. _________________ On September 21, 2007, a historic 119-year old amusement park had been secretly murdered. Never forget it. |

Another feature on those TV screens that I remember was 60 seconds with Big Chuck and Lil John. I think those were on in the mid 80s. |

I too remember those. In fact even to the end the poles where they were mounted were still up. I always wondered why they took them out? They were when I went to Kings Island kind of a hit with guests in the queue lines. |

Fred Kramer, the Rotorman, was a GL legend for over a decade primarily riding the Rotor, but also Double Loop, and Yo-Yo.
Once Rotor was taken out, his primary rides became Double Loop and Hay Bailer. He was still occasionally seen on the Yo-Yo until it moved to the other side of the park. He also had a fondness for the ferry boats.
I also saw him during the 1999 Fright Fest on Serial Thriller, and in 2000 he and the former Thrillerman were together trying out Batman Knight Flight.
I frequently would talk with him over the years, and in 2005 he expressed extreme displeasure in Cedar Fair's running of the park for a variety of reasons. 2006 saw him at Conneaut Lake Park marathoning the Blue Streak, Miniature Train, and Round-Up. I was able to ride a few rides with him at CLP that summer and he was back in his element after two years of dissapointment with GL and CF.
Fred is also a die-hard Cleveland Browns fan and was often seen sporting Browns gear. I remember how excited he was when the team returned in '99. I also seem to remember Chip Wood running into him once at a game at Browns Stadium.
No idea where he is at now. Both of his parks are now closed. I hope he is still riding somewhere..... |

Maybe he can find a new home at a "non-cedar fair park" Or just a place he can ride his heart away. _________________ Geauga Lake I will miss you! |

I remember Rotorman he used to hide behind the exit door of the rotor when everyone was exiting. I liked how the ride ops always pretended they didn't see him.
My kids were afraid of him at first unitl one day I stopped and introduced them to him. After that my son always had to stand next to him when we rode the rotor.
I wondered what ever happened to him? I was afraid something had happened to him, as were my kids.
I hope he finds another amusement park that will let him ride till his hearts content.
Another Geauga Lake memory that I will always treasure. _________________ "Be ashamed to die until you have achieved
