Well not a park per se but still a CF owned property that will most likely be closed. While not an official announcement yet we all know what happened with the rumors of GL closing. I would bet that this is really going to happen given CF's track record.
Spread the word, maybe we can gather support from them with GL.

Oh and how about you telling me you knew about the closing of GL back in May? Kind of funny you didn't tell your friends to make their last visit. Or was that just another one of your lies?? _________________ Where are you May 10th?!? |

I did tell my friends. But since you are not one of them how would you know? _________________ Greed is what caused GL's demise and that just makes me sick. Lets do what we can to rat out Kinzel - hes a snake.

Sorry CoasterDad, but I don't think anyone really cares about Cedar Fair closing a show in Las Vegas.
That has a price

Oh really, you told them? So then how come everyone was in total shock on this website when it was announced? Oh and I also love how you say on Pointbuzz, that Jeff and Walt's complete silence to the matter clinched it for you. Why do they have to speak out about it when you can't either? But it doesn't really matter because they didn't know and neither did you. _________________ Where are you May 10th?!? |

I agree. Its just the fact that everyone already knows but in typical CF fashion they will not announce it. _________________ Greed is what caused GL's demise and that just makes me sick. Lets do what we can to rat out Kinzel - hes a snake.

Actually, he did tell. Wharfier heard it from him and told me, but I did not think that CF would be that stupid. After all, we went to GL many times during the 07 season and it was much busier than 06. Also CF kept saying that they would be there in 08. I asked directly. What CF did not say was that it would be as a water park only.
Were we shocked? Yes. I never thought that a business would risk it's good will with such a stupid lie. They lost me as a customer. And many others.
I know of at least one union that will not be going to CP for their family day. |

Well, I was looking about at some old threads and there was a thread entitled "What could be done for GL in 08'?" or something around those lines and a lot of people replied saying their ideas. Including Coasterdad! Now why would he do that if he knew about the closing back in May?? _________________ Where are you May 10th?!? |

According to the Trekkies, on that site, it was a cool exhibit. I'm sure a bunch of trekkies won't like the situation but it's for the best I guess. _________________ 2008 - Mantis Crew

This site should win an award for the amount of mis-information posted.
Star Trek the Experience is not owned by Cedar Fair. It is managed by Cedar Fair, similar to the management contract previously held to run Camp Snoopy at Mall Of America. Cedar Fair opted not to renew the Camp Snoopy contract, and the owners later turned it into Nick Universe. Life went on.
Whether or not Cedar Fair renews their contract to manage Star Trek has little do to with whether Star Trek continues to operate. |

afrmom@comcast.net, Coasterdad did tell me and so did a full time park employee. Coasterdad also had it in his signature box!!! Get your facts straight before you run your know-it-all mouth!! Coasterdad and I were sending PM's to each other, thats how we discussed it, so you won't be able to see it on a thread. _________________ CEDAR UNFAIR COWARDS!!!!!

Here is an update on the Las Vegas CF-managed Star Trek Experience situation titled "Future of 'Star Trek: The Experience' in Doubt." It looks more likely that it may be closing at the end of 2008, and if it does not it will likely be managed by someone other than Cedar Fair. Cedar Fair has no current plans to renew its contract as "although Cedar Fair is said to be happy with recent results from The Experience due to effective cost-reductions, the attendance has been in decline for years." CBS owns the authentic props (actually used in the shows and movies) and some of the replicas, so those would go to CBS. Cedar Fair apparently owns some other replicas that may be auctioned off, according to the report.
Due to the need to deconstruct things by December 31, 2008, "TrekMovie is told The Experience would likely close to visitors in September or October (if the contract isn’t renewed)."
Kind of unlucky timing, a new Star Trek movie is due in May 2009, it was originally scheduled for December 2008, might have provided a boost in 2009.
