Small update, one screen only
Monday, March 9th, 1970
Busch Entertainment Corp. announced today that construction has begun on Busch Gardens Columbus, the New World. The park will contain five themed areas and feature several rides and shows.
OVERVIEW
Here's concept art of the entrance plaza and part of the first themed area, Villa Granada, which is modeled after the early Spanish settlements in the New World.
ENTRANCE PLAZA
A better look at the entrance plaza.
GUEST RELATIONS
VILLA GRANADA DETAIL
VIENTO
Viento is a Sellner Tilt-A-Whirl, sure to please thrill-seekers of all ages.
LA CASCADA
Patterned after the classic Shoot-The-Chutes rides of old, La Cascada is the centerpiece of Villa Granada.
Other areas of the park include Land of the Jaguar, a trip back to the ancient Mayan, Aztec, and Olmec civilizations of Mexico; Centennial Square, a look at main-street America in 1876; A section based on the Canadian Rockies; and another area that apes the French settlements in early America. More details as construction continues, stay tuned! _________________

Lookin Great... but I will say this: Watch your signage... Use it ONLY where you need it. As once you start using mroe and more it won't let you use anymore signs after awhile. _________________ 2008 - Mantis Crew

He's right you have alot of signage just in your entrance area. Don't forget the limits that they put on RCT2! _________________ Geauga Lake I will miss you! |

RCT2 and it's glorious limits, always getting in the way! While it can seem restraining, having limits also forces you to use your creativity to get around them. Hence, the patented SIGN DEPOT .
The game will allow you to have up to 240 signs, but... there is a trick to it. Each ride uses up two signs, one for the que line sign, and one for the entrance building sign, unless... all 240 signs are already created. Thus, the magic of the sign depot, allowing one to have 240 signs regardless of how many rides you have. Just remember to keep 240 signs used before building a ride! I've used 18 so far, still have 222 to go! _________________ |

Sometimes I get really fedup with the Sign limit and the 255 ride limit in RCT2 but if they allowed more than that the game could be as slow as RCT3.
Great Park! I love the Mexican Tile paths that you have. |

I've started a project of my own...I was thinking like mixing a old themed park with a mix of islands theming....although no creative name just Six Flags Ohio (and no not aurora...just a big peice of land) Although this wouldn't be your normal Six Flags its my six flags done my way. I just don't want to associate with cedar fair if you get my drift. When i come along I'll post updates under a new thread...but Busch Gardens Columbus just struck an inpiring part of me. so thanks! _________________ Geauga Lake I will miss you! |

After further review, Busch Entertainment Corp. has decided to go back to the drawing board for Busch Gardens Columbus. Now, instead of Villa Granada serving as a theme area and the entrance plaza, it will be separate from the entrance, allowing better access to customer services.
OVERVIEW
Here you can see the revised entrance plaza, giving a much more open and inviting feel compared to the original cramped design.

The first picture is the new entrance gates, expanded to allow a better customer flow. In the second picture is the Alpo pet center, a kennel for your animal companions while you enjoy the park. We can handle cats, dogs, reptiles, birds, and anything in between. The third picture is the Season Pass Office. The next picture shows the stroller and wheelchair rental building, and the Kodak photo stand, where you can purchase all your film needs. In the next picture you can see the Lost and Found office, and the locker rentals. The final picture shows the Security, administration, and first aid building. We have registered nurses on staff at all times. Outside the gates you can see the group sales and advertising office.
Busch Entertainment Corp. stressed that construction is on track for the parks Grand Opening next year. With Cedar Point, Geauga Lake, Sea World, and Coney Island (soon to be Kings Island in 1971) as our major competition, Busch Gardens Columbus is set to be the premier entertainment destination for Ohio residents, and beyond. Busch Gardens Columbus, the New World indeed! _________________ |

Super job, Sohio. Love the look of your entrance area. Your administration/security building is my favorite - very detailed like you would find at BGE.
Are those custom building objects? If so, where can I download them? |

Most of the custom objects came from geewhzz's bench project from New Element. http://forums.nedesigns.com/index.php?showtopic=16346
Go to the last page for the updated bench. If the object is not in the bench, just let me know and I'll post a download to the object! _________________ |

Good Job Sohio I loved custom scenery, but I could never get my themeing just the way I want it, and damn rct2 limits. Your doing great so far, I like the new entrance area much better. I'll tell you theming is the hardest part of making a huge and professional looking park. _________________ Geauga Lake I will miss you! |

I like the new entrance 100 times better... With the mindless peeps walking around I could understand the switch. _________________ 2008 - Mantis Crew

Originally I was going to base this park on an opening date of 1971, with "yearly" updates, but now I'm going to go in a new direction. Now Busch Gardens Columbus is opening in 2009 as brand new park in the Busch Gardens chain. Now on to the update...
BUSCH GARDENS COLUMBUS
The newest member of the Busch Entertainment family, Busch Gardens Columbus will be a state of the art theme park that also harkens back to yesteryear, blending the old with the new.
Conveniently located on the outskirts of Columbus, OH, the park will feature themes based on North American history and cultures. Visit a Spanish colony, explore some ancient Mayan ruins, or celebrate the centennial of the good old USA, whatever your choice it's sure to be a memorable journey.
California's Great America's Whizzer

Rumored to have been scrapped when dismantled in1988, the coaster has actually been in storage and was recently purchased by BGC. An Anton Schwarzkopf Speed Racer model, it will be one of only three operational in existence. Originally with 4-car trains, this has been reduced to 3-car trains from Big Bend http://www.rcdb.com/id2167.htm, another Speed Racer model that was scrapped. Now all it needs is a new name, any ideas?
That's all for now, but here's a teaser shot for the next update...

There has been a lot of activity at the Busch Gardens Columbus site, and construction seems to be on target for the summer 2009 opening. Lets get to the screens, shall we?
Speed Racer Work
Work on the custom supports for Speed Racer is proceeding, although it's tedious, and requires doing a lot of zero clearance/restore clearance to get it looking right. If you've ever used zero clearance with a trainer and don't save your work, the inevitable errors creep in and you have to start all over, so it's save, do a little, check for errors, save, repeat.
Villa Granada
There's a new entrance to Villa Granada, a lot more interesting than the old entrance.
La Cascada's station has also been revised. I think it's a cleaner look than the original.
El Viento ( a Sellner Tilt-A-Whirl) and Zorro's Whip ( a Mangels Whip) have been installed next to La Cascada. There's a third flat going in too, but so far no clues as to what it is.
Rumors Confirmed
When the deconstruction crews at Geauga Lake started to dismantle the Villain http://www.rcdb.com/id633.htm, it wasn't clear if the coaster was being scrapped or saved. There were rumors that Busch Entertainment Corp. had purchased the ride, but that was not taken very seriously. Busch Gardens is proud to announce that the Villain has a new home in Columbus, and will be one of the premier rides at the new park. The Martin & Vleminckx Group http://www.martin-vleminckx.com/ will handle the relocation, and Busch Gardens has purchased new GCI Millennium Flyer trains. The entire coaster is receiving a re-tracking, and should be running in great form when it opens. Here's some artist rendering of the Villain at her new home.
That's it for this update. We look forward to seeing you in 2009 at our grand opening. We leave you with a teaser shot for the next update.
The black track appears to be brand new, but the green track is definitely not. _________________ |
