I am wondering if they are replacing the cars.  For some reason I remember hearing that, since they were using the Villian and RWB cars for something?  My other guess is that CF is hoping people will now lose interest in the racers and then they can tear them down and have available land.  Stupid idea...but we are talking about CF, lol.

Well that would be stupid. The villain trains would tear that track up.

...and CF would care why?

My guess is something along those lines. They are succeeding in ruining a once beautiful park just like I said when they first purchased it. Funny how some KI fanboys disagreed - I wonder what they think now.

Personally, I'm kind of happy about the decision.  I don't like to ride backwards to begin with.

I am afraid that this may mean that they are more likely to only run one side, but Screamscape is reporting that KD is training new operators how to time the trains on Rebel Yell to race, so I'll keep my hopes up for now.

Meh, Cedar Fair reminds me of RCT2..... you take someone elses game and start with naming the rides with  generic names like roller coaster 1, then throw a tacky paint job, then advertise as new and viola, bad management! gosh..... could it get any worse? (oh yea and in rct2, you can change a backwards coaster back to a regular one again)....its too much like a game to them.

I personally prefer to ride forward. Every time we've been there the line for backwards is usually longer, which shows the popularity of that way of riding. I feel that denying that choice, further demonstrates how out of touch CF is with what their customers wants.

Couldn't be more true, We wanted Geauga Lake to succeed and stay open, did that happen? no! The list could go on, but they never really do listen. Its all whatever Kinzel wants Kinzel gets, end of story.

If the ride was created to run one backward and one fowards i think it should stay the same but if it did run fowards on both before it ran backwards and frontwards i think it should stay the way it is do to fact that how everyone liked it the way it was i personally have never been there and i just think it should be in the best intrest to the guests !

I remember some visits to KI early and/or late in the season due to lack of staff when Racer was only running one side and it was usually the forwards side anyway.

It should also be pointed out that SFGAm's American Eagle ran the blue side backwards for a few years and was quite popular but was returned to forward racing again a couple years ago. That first 147-foot drop facing backwards was awesome.

the last few years the comet was at crystal beach it ran the front half of the cars backwards and the back half forwards, they continued to do that at six flags great escape, i dunno if it still runs like that or not, looking at the pic on the website i dont think it does.

as seen here

visitkingsisland.com/news/detail.cfm?item_id=672

Just read the press release on Kings Island racer. I like the way they make such a big deal out of both sides going forward. I love the way they also say it will now conform with the racing coasters at their other parks. In other words if CP's racers don't go backwards no ones will.

But what really disgusts me about the article is the big deal they make about Racers age and that it has Ace Landmark status, one of only 14 in the world. They make a big deal about that but they are perfectly willing to destroy Big Dipper the 12th oldest coaster in the world. I'm sure ACE would be more than willing to give it Landmark status, but then cf would not be able to demolish it.
