| Just to let you all know, I took a ride out to the park tonight and everything is still intact. I was really surprised, thought half of it would be gone by now. It was nice seeing the tower as I was coming down 43. |

I drove by tonight to see the park also. Everything still looks intact. The space needle looked really cool on Route 43.

I don't know what's going to happen about the trash left over but you got the right idea--I'm going dumpster diving this weekend. We got there early on Tues-8:30 and grabbed as much small items --anything that would fit in my purse or pockets. Then bought some shirts so they gave us a bag--was able to get the 70th anniversary of the BD out in that, an employee handbook, some ride check list sheets.etc It made me mad that in alot of the little shops stuff was just laying about and it could have been boxed up properly and save. The BD poster was laying face down in a smashed frame in the office, I only found it because a dropped my hat bent down to get in and noticed it half under a desk. If CP really cared I don't think they would have left peoples old paychecks laying around either--It was in the office. I was of of the thought ifs its not locked down or obviously part of the auction its fair game. I got pictures inside the carousel, sitting in the old Double Loop car. Security was ok-only got told to get down off the one water slide platform and had to leave inside the old arcade upstairs (was dark, should have had a flash light) If WWK closes next year like it probably will, I know to take a bigger purse and flash light. |
I'm pretty sure thats why most of the buildings in the auction said "contents of this building or that building". Most of that was to be included with whoever bid on that particular building. |

I'm wondering too, there was a sign I always liked, it was on the left side as you either entered the old water park, or right after you got in the water park. It just had a shark head in a circle with a line through it, not sure if there was anything else on it. The sign disappeared the last year the old water park was open. I just liked it, thought my kids would like it hanging out by their 3' pool (hopefully next year a deeper one). I always like the fake palms in the old water park, but they've left the fronds out all year since they closed it & they're were all tore up.
Went around GL's backside this afternoon & there were about 6-8 cars & trucks back there, along with a ton of picnic tables & some seats from some rides - not sure what the seats went to, they were yellow. _________________ Money, power, fame: the roots of evil, and others heartache. |

| What street did you take to get to behind GL? I was going to go up tomorrow if it doesn't rain. The person that bought RWB at auction does he plan on taking the coaster also and reassembling it? The items that weren't sold at the auction will they be relocated to other CF parks. Did you get any photos? |

Didn't take the camera, just decided last minute to do a swing by.
Geauga Lake Road, runs off of 43, goes behind Target & takes you behind the park, it runs into Depot St.?, which is behind the waterpark preferred parking & runs into Squires? Rd (used to be called Sea World Drive) which takes you back out to 43. _________________ Money, power, fame: the roots of evil, and others heartache. |

| Those might have been trains to DL or The Bees. Was everything else intact coaster wise? When I went by last evening you could still see everything in the skyline. I know soon we will have to go on memories only. This is terrible that our park has closed and we can't ride anymore rides. The RWB, The Villian, DL, BD, HS, X-Flight, space needle and waterslides will always be in my memory of the skyline of the front entrance. |

| I don't think they are selling the hotel. Just park and campgrounds. |

| I read somewhere in one of these threads that the Bertram was the new hotel of recommendation for WWK. So what are they going to do with the GL Hotel? Obviously it didn't open this season, and from what I understand when Best Western sold out, it was only going to be a seasonal hotel. Even if someone else does buy it, it's off the beaten trail aways (Streetsboro has far better hotels in it). Or maybe they could turn it into a senior living center or something. Of course we all know CF wouldn't do anything like that, that would be being too charitable and losing money! |

The Geauga Lake Hotel and surrounding property is part of the 400+ acre parcel that Cedar Fair is selling through Colliers. I tried to verify my facts but the information has been pulled off the Colliers web site since the bidding was due last May.
It should be noted that the original diagram that most everyone saw of how the land was divided up and what was being sold-off was incorrect and was changed. More property will remain apart of WWK for future expansion opportunities. For example, the Happy Harbor area was originally notated to be part of the property for sale which was incorrect. The property line for WWL will now go all the way over to the "red house" which was the original line separating Sea World and Geauga Lake long ago. |
