Lets hope this developer attends the GL auction with a lot of money. _________________ Greed is what caused GL's demise and that just makes me sick. Lets do what we can to rat out Kinzel - hes a snake.

^They are not planning on reopening the park.

The developers plan to create what they call a master plan resort community for commercial, recreational and residential use, Sills said.
“It would (contain) a 100-room resort hotel with a conference center, a health spa, and there will be residential housing that will be for sale,” |

Well they could buy a ride or two from geauga lake say the big dipper and add it as an attraction. I know its far fetched but its an idea. _________________ Geauga Lake I will miss you! |

That would be kind of funny if he moved his protest/picket to Geauga Lake. I bet people would join him there.
I also bet there will be some protests at Geauga if they destroy the Big Dipper. _________________ "It's a very special ride. We want to make sure it has a proper home." CF Spokesperson Robin Innes about the Big Dipper.

Looks like a lonely battle there.... he needs to face the fact the park is gone and overgrown. I don't know exactly what he plans on saving there, its better if it were developed or turned around maybe as a historical landmark... it can't be left like it is now. _________________ Geauga Lake I will miss you! |

Thank you for posting those pictures of Shady Lake. It looks from the pictures that it once had a ferris wheel, turnpike cars, and a flying skooter ride. I'm sure there were other rides, does anyone know which ones? I do rememember it having a kiddie land type of area when I was very little.
As for Chippewa Lake, I do believe everything is still in place. However, the land was recently purchased to build a resort type of community on it. Here's a link to the article that speaks about its development: http://wp2.medina-gazette.com/2008/03/13/news/new-life-for-park/
Those who are interested should know that a video tape (fairly old from the 1980's) exists at some public libraries all about Chippewa Lake. It's very cool to see it back in its glory with the coaster running and the Bug. |

Chippewa is a nice Sunday trip. You can spend a whole day wandering around in there. If you carefully enter some of the buildings all the stuff inside is as it was left the last day of operations. In the basement of the restaurant there are still freezers and condiments, cups and plates. Most of the buildings are deteriorating badly. From my understanding they are going to develop the land as a resort style community with a hotel and water features. Hopefully they don't scrap the tumble bug. If anyone wants to save a part of history the likes of the big dipper, The Tumble Bug is it. only 3 remain in the US.

| I wonder if there is a way to try to save any of the rides from there. Would it be nice if they could move the Dipper from Geauga Lake there and maybe try to see if CF would sell the rockets. And maybe the rides that are at Conneaut Lake park and rebuild it into a family park? I know that is a dream, but that is what I know that no one can take away.... |
