Not only Fences. Security Cameras as well as patrol Security. Not real affective though . _________________ Remember......Fan Boys and Haters are always good for one thing. A one sided argument. Which are you? |

For updates, check these forums, if it is major Geauga Lake news, there will probably be a thread here soon (often before it hits the mainstream media). There are some good videos on the Cleveland TV channel websites (3, 5, 8, 19) - search their sites for Geauga Lake stories.
WKYC flew a helicopter over Geauga Lake in March and got about 7 minutes of footage of parts of the park:

Newsnet5 also has some video about the closing:

| Hey everyone, Ive been reading this Forum for a few months now, and have finally decided to register and post up. I had until now chosen to sit in the wings, because I honestly had not desire to put up with a certain persons BS... however now that said person is a "lurker" I can post my thoughts and not have to get into a flame war. First off, I want to thank you for posting these pics, and all of the others who have posted pics to keep us all updated. Though originally from Iowa, and my "home park" being WOF in Kansas City (one of the first 72 riders on Mamba), my Wife and Stepdaughter are from Cleveland, and I have a LOT of good memories of GL. My First visit was in 03, and it contained a lot of "firsts" for me. It was our first theme park visit as a Family, Mr Hyde's represented my first ride on an Intamin Drop ride (you will NOT get me on a second gen Intamin the likes of Power Tower/Drop Tower), my first flying coaster experience on X-Flight, and my first floorless experience on then Batman Knight Flight. I guess my point here (sorry for rambling) is that a lot of my very good memories were crushed on September 17th,2007. we were in Cleveland the first weekend in January, and though we actually drove to Aurora to take pics of what was/is left.... I made it to the Pizza Hut off off Route 91 just a few miles from the park and couldnt go any further. When I see the compilation videos of what was done in the past few years, I truly have tears in my eyes as I watch them.... especially the one with the statement towards the end that reads "Not the end we had hoped for". Please, since I didnt have the Heart/courage to make it that last few miles, Coasterdad and Ride op please keep posting as many pics as you can. |

Welcome to the site Sparky. The park meant alot to everyone. We all share similar fond memories. Some have their own favorite moments. Now I am only 29 yrs old, but I still remember things like Geauga Dog, the Rotor Man, Turtle Beach, Big Ditch Boat ride, The Wave. If it was not for me working summers at Geauga Lake. I would not have met my wife of 10 years (She was my Boss) Nor would I have my 2 daughters. So hey if the park brings a tear to your eye, don't be embarassed or ashamed. Rambling is allowed. That is what we are all here for.

Tuesday they removed the Main Entrance "Geauga Lake" Sign that had Snoopy on it.There is now a May 24th opening sign in it's place. Also one of the wooden structures in the parking lot has been hauled away. _________________ Remember......Fan Boys and Haters are always good for one thing. A one sided argument. Which are you? |

Is that the sign in the brick wall on Route 43 near the ride side parking lot? I understand that they need to promote Wildwater Kingdom, but to put a sign in front of the closed ride side that says "opening May 24" is misleading and could cause a lot of confusion and disappointment. _________________ "It's a very special ride. Yeah that's the sign I'm talking about. (Cedar Fair it is a good thing you picked it up out of the grass when you did because I was on my way to collect a souviner). After they removed it, it sat in the grass by the road for 6 hours. I drove by and seen it there. went by the old ballroom to pickup my truck, drove back to get it and they had already loaded it up. Would have looked sweet in my garage. _________________ Remember......Fan Boys and Haters are always good for one thing. A one sided argument. Which are you? |

I have been reading the forums for a while now, and love all the great information and pictures.
I had some time this week, and was over by the park, trying to see what I could through the many fences. While there, I was able to see trucks driving around inside and working. These trucks were from "GLENWOOD HOMES". Are they the guys doing all the deconstruction? There were a few of their trucks there. The home market must be really bad if a builder is now tearing down our park. |

Welcome to the boards and thanks for the information twisterfan.
I wonder why a builder would be on site since supposedly no one has purchased the property yet...hmmmmm. Another deceitful lie? _________________ Greed is what caused GL's demise and that just makes me sick. Lets do what we can to rat out Kinzel - hes a snake.

Did anyone google "Glenwood Homes"?
I did...I came across some rustic wooden vacation-looking homes. They don't seem like a good fit around Geauga Lake with busy SR 43 right nearby.
Anyone who purchases those homes is a fool. I could certainly see having one if I were, say, out in the wilderness somewhere like Colorado, Wyoming, Idaho, etc....but certainly not in NE Ohio.
What a bunch of dumba$$es. |

Im by no means an expert on residential home construction (my expertise is in commercial Electrical work hence my screenname), but is it possible they are looking to buy the woodies at the auction and use them for construction of their 'rustic' homes?

| This Glenwood Homes is a local company- out of Richfield. It will be interesting to see what involvement they have in the future. I am sure they will be at the auction! |
