Looks like they are finally getting it right.

From Amusement Today article.
Total revenues ~$68 million up 35% over the prior-year quarter, while total attendance up 19% to over 1.4 million.

Per capita guest spending, up $4.51 to $38.95, up 13% over first quarter of 2007. Guest spending increases were across the board, reflecting higher admissions, food and beverage, rentals, retail, games, parking and other revenues.

On my last trip to SFMM they looked like they really cared about their customers. Fully staffed, friendly and helpful. It took us less than 5 minutes to get our season passes.
I'm glad that there is another alternative to CF.

Wow!

Consitering the terible economy and large number of jobs being lost due to competition in Japan & China, I'd say that the Six Flags turn around is very impressive Very Happy

One has to wonder what it SFWoA could have stuck it out for one o two more years. What a great place it would be and competition for the evil Dick. I think he saw it coming and offered them deal that at the time they could not refuse.

Look at them now they are looking to be ahead of CF - and that makes me smile. Smile

I think the bigger thing for SF now is Shapiro's statement that they are going to do a "Reverse Disney". They have the rides, now they are going to theme them. Disney has a theme then builds a ride.
When SF starts to roll out their theming that is when they will really come alive.
Of course theming is something that CF can't do. One ride on Disaster Transport proves that.

Well that is nice to hear they are doing better. Maybe they can catch up with CF- but will definetly not get better then them. Anyways I'm sure once CP opens up CF will have a start to a great quarter one. Time will tell!

Time will tell  --  May 6th CF will announce their 1st quarter results.
And as for Six Flags catching CF, they will if they move forward with their plans for theming.  To me Six Flags Magic Mountain has already caught Cedar Point. The ride selection at SFMM is better.  There is nothing like Tatsu.

Hello cpboy, even without Coasterdad telling us who you are I would of guessed it from your writing style. Don't count on CF having a great start from what I hear season pass sales are way down, even with the free giveaways.

Oh from what you hear, eh? I smell BS. Anyways care to give me a source? The only reason SF did good 1st quarter was because they were open during Easter.

Total loss of rides there. Sure it may be a great park, but who has more coasters? And tell me how have they "caught" up? Nothing like Tatsu? Nothing like Maverick!

I think Six Flags has done great. If only cedar fair could be more like Six Flags....focus on what you have, take care of what you have and invest in what you have. Even if it is theming. What do you think made Disney World/land that? What do you think made Universal Studios that? Legoland? I mean c'mon scenery and rides is everything if your only cedar fair and all your doing is rides then your basically just f'n screwed! Congrats Six Flags!

Once again,  you just don't get it.  It's quality of the rides not quantity.
Cedar Point has more coasters in number, big deal.
The variety at SFMM is better.
Maverick is just a wild mouse on steroids.
Even with Maverick CP had basically flat attendance.
At 24 million dollars that is not a good return.
We'll see how the numbers come out this year.

Keep in mind Six Flags has finally got it. They may own a park and can do what they want with it, but it is still a customer service based business. If you remain blind to your customers wants, then you are as good as finished. People will choose to go elsewhere.

Six Flags is trying to make the parks more family oriented and are doing so. Sounds a bit familiar, but it is at least being executed and not just bs. By the way, Having the most coasters DOES NOT make you the best amusement park.

SF is NOT going in the right direction! They ruined Great Adventure and now have no flats and arn't doing much. Oh, wow a Dark Night ride with no theming! Did you read the press release for that? The theming sounds pathetic.
