· Quote

Apparently on opening weekend there were no fire effects (and there were some missing water effects too I beleive, here is the article from screamcape.com:

"2008 - Firefall & More - (5/19/0Cool California’s Great America did finally get Firefall open at last on Saturday, but not without some snags it seems. After the last second cancellation of the first “Grand Opening” event that was supposed to have included the winners of the charity auction for the first seats, the winners were apparently invited back for this second attempt to open the ride. According to one of our readers who was an auction winner, it seemed that a large number of the winners were unable to come back, so in order to fill all the seats they began grabbing just about anyone standing in the area to come over and ride, giving them all free “Firefall First Rider” T-shirts.
According to our wining reader, the injustice didn’t stop there either as most of the auction winners were asked to stand around in a particular area for about 45 minutes to wait for the first ride. In the meantime park staff were out grabbing the “extras” to fill in, and apparently went ahead and loaded many of these extras into the more desirable front row seats that the auction winners had technically “paid” for the opportunity to ride in.
Clearly this isn’t the best way to treat your special guests who had already been inconvenienced once before when the first event was canceled by events beyond your control. I can understand the need to fill seats for the PR shoot, but they could have at least given the winners first choice of seats. I’m sure people will remember this the next time the park attempts another event like this. Oh… and one final note… apparently Firefall is still pyro free. For whatever reason, despite the fact that they had a few extra weeks to work on it, the highly touted fire effects are still not working. You can see pictures taken during the grand opening posted to Theme Park Village."

A grand screw up in typical CF fashion, beautiful!

Oh, nice paint job on Firefall, seems like only last year that was the new paint job on Texas Twister. Oh wait that is Texas Twister! Oh but they had no idea they were going to close GL.

I was wondering if the only reason some of these rides got painted was because they knew they were closing. Oh wait thats right they "didn't know until the day of announcement" . Mybad just another little "theory" Smile

Well now that makes sence why they changed the color sceme on hat ride. I know that last wummer it made no sence why they would paint a ride that is a "tornado" theme with such bright colors... I mean unless the tornado is a fire one, I have never seen a tornado look like that!. And they said the closing was thought about after the season last year.....
