We just got back from Darien Lake.
Had a great time. The place was very busy, but the wait times were reasonable. Food was excellent. Employees were their usual, cheerful, efficient selves. There was a free Mitchel Musso concert on Saturday. I was hoping for a slow ride period during the concert but the full park was busy the entire time. But as I said, the wait times were OK, nothing longer than 20 minutes (RoS first seats )
Most of these photos are just frames taken from my videos.
I'll be posting a full trip report, more photos, videos, and more at www.darienlakecentral.com this week. |

Thanks for the pics and the TR. I'm heading there tomorrow and can't wait. The park is truly one of the best GL substitutes I can recommend. Predator was down last year so I'm looking forward to riding that one after a 9-year lull. The UFO is awesome. And that Silver Bullet is the only North American installation of a Heinz-Fahtz Enterprise.
I'll probably post a TR after my visit. But like Katie said, it's not CP, so why bother.

Ehh, doesn't look like it compares to my CP that's for sure. Sorry. Does look better than Waldameer though. _________________ Cedar Point-The best park on the planet!

My family and I visited Darien Lake several years ago. We had a great time then and I've been thinking about going back again. Now I'm really itching to go back there. Thanks for the TR. |

Excellent pics and thanks for the TR. Love the shot of the UFO from the Giant Wheel and Predator.
That make your own Slushie seems to be the "in" thing as I believe a lot of parks are doing that this year.
Not sure if you can answer this but from what you can gage as you visit the park how do you think the GP feel about Darien now that it's under new ownership?
I look forward to my visit in a few weeks. |

Well CFVIP, we don't want it compared to CP.... Its probally better taken care of, and under much better management. Looks like its really improved quite a bit. _________________ Geauga Lake I will miss you! |

Out of the parks I'm visiting this year, Darien Lake is the park I know the least about and really don't know what to expect.
The park itself seems very pretty and grown in. It has a good collection of unique flats and Ride of Steel looks like a great ride.
How is Predator? I know it was awfully rough but has gotten trackwork done recently. Does it still use the trailered PTCs that tore up Raging Wolf Bobs' track? But if it is running better, looks like it could have some good airtime. Does PARC run the ride with the trims on?
The park looks very loosely structured and covers a large area. Are things as spaced out as they seem?
I suppose this one is more of an opinion, but if I bring someone who is used to going to Cedar Point and Geauga Lake, do you think they'd be quickly bored? Maybe not if they're alright with going to a park "That's like Geauga Lake before Six Flags".
I like your photos and I look forward to the rest of them and your full report. Thanks. |

That's because it is not CP. Darien Lake is a FAMILY amusement park, not a park geared to teenage record breaking coaster enthusiasts. It is clean, well taken care of, friendly, affordable, fun and has a GM who worked under the Funtime Inc. leadership. So, I guess your right, It can't be compared to CP. Plus you can actually get on the stuff you want to ride without waiting in line hour after hour. Then you get to top off your day with the fantastic laser light and fireworks display, held every night after closing. _________________ CEDAR UNFAIR COWARDS!!!!!

Darien Lake doesn't compare with Cedar Point.
Cedar Point has long lines, high prices, terrible food, mediocre entertainment and bird crap covered rides.
Darien Lake has good prices, great food, good entertainment, a clean safe environment, a large, clean and FREE waterpark and a major concert venue right at the same location.
See, no comparison. |

CP is a clean, safe enviorment. Bird crap covered rides? Not their fault seagulls are everywhere. The only ride with bird crap all over it is Raptor.
CP has a laser light show starting in late June that also has fireworks. Also like I said CP has long lines because it is a resort! Darien Lake is not a resort and never will be. Too small. Disney probably has worse lines than CP.
Like I said I can always get a ton of rides in when I go to CP. You guys just chose the worst times to go I guess, Saturdays, Halloweekends, 4th of July, etc. _________________ Cedar Point-The best park on the planet!

Ride the Sky Ride - there is bird crap covering every building, ride, umbrella etc. It was disgusting. They need to powerwash once in a while.
Every park has birds. Busch Gardens Tampa has more birds that I've seen anywhere. Busch keeps a clean park.
Darien Lake has 1200 campsites and RV's and a Hotel on site. If they sell out, which they do, they can hold over 5,000 people on site.
Which is why the parking lot can seem empty but the park is busy.
As far as on site capacity, CP and DL are about equal as to what they can hold.
Before I stopped going to Cedar Point, I had gone about 100 times in the last 9 years. During weekdays, weekends and usually not on holidays.
If you did not get the early entry, the lines to anything good were always long. As for Disney I went in February and the place was packed, but the lines were never longer than 1/2 hour. You can run a good park with crowds, just not a Cedar Fair park. Badly managed parks are slow parks. |

I think the ignorant child is just trying to get us riled up. I say we not even remotely post about his idiotic postings. Hopefully he will just go away on his own when he should have already known he isn't wanted.
We can never prove even with proof about how much better some parks are then CP is. No matter what we throw out it's always CP is amazing...has amazing rides, awesome food. We all know he is pulling this crap out of his butt and shining it up real nice.
I say we ignore what he posts and he might magically go away. _________________ Katie

That does it... I'm going to Darien Lake.
Now to find the money and convince the Fiancee. (MN native who's used to Valleyfair and doesn't understand why losing GL is such a big blow. Wanted to go last summer and never got the money/time together...) |

Once again you are so over dramatic. Like I said the only ride covered in bird crap is Raptor. Oh wow the roofs of buildings are covered! Who cares how a roof looks??? There really is NO point in power washing because the birds will just come back the next day and do the same thing. CP does poweer wash the sidewalks every morning though. Oh wow every park has birds. CP has it the worst with the seagulls. Ever step on the beach before? You will step there and there will be about a million seagulls together. CP has it the worst trust me.
Oh and here we go again with long lines. I've been to Disney and the lines are always over a 1/2, but they move quick just like CP's. See here's your problem. You are just to use to these lame little small parks like Kennywood, GL, Waldameer, etc. People never go there so of course the lines will be short. You need to visit more world class amusement parks. Oh and I do believe I saw someone say CP tries to make their lines long (I think swdaze said that). All I have to say is HA!! You take the award for the most ignorant comment to ever be posted on this board.
You just need to get the fact that CP is the best and always will be. Like I keep saying, you are just jealous that I have my CP. _________________ Cedar Point-The best park on the planet!
