I was wondering if anyone has gone to the "New Geauga Lake" to check out what the water park looks like. I am wondering if anyone could see what was happening on the ride side?

I was at the "New WWK" and there is nothing happening at GL all the rides are SBNO. We are missing 2 coasters from the outline across the lake. Thunderhawk and Dominator are gone. The park looks in pretty bad shape. There are trees covering RWB and The Big Dipper is still standing. There are fences all over the water park. I am going to the auction on June 16th. I want to see the inside of the park and find out what's going to happen with The Big Dipper. I hope it remains onsite and it runs again.

I am planning to go to the auction on the 16th also. What time is it? I know I am curious what will be happening to our beloved park!

The auction is June 16-18th from 11am-5pm. You don't have to attend all 3 days unless you plan on buying things from the park or campground. The park auction is the 17th and the campground is the 18th. If you want pictures of the park I guess you're going to have to take them yourself from the waterpark or from the park at the auction. Someone from the inside took them before for the deconstruction thread. There probably won't be anymore photos until the auction is done.

Drove by WWK today [6-7-08] and took some picutres.

Skyscraper with the window caulking falling off

Preferred lot

Thunder Falls - note how few people are wating

Liquid Lightning - also note short line

Main lot - not many cars

These pictures were taken mid afternoon around 2pm on a Saturday with 85 degree plus temperatures. Last year at this time the line for TF and LL were down the stairs.

They should have kept at least the Happy Harbor flats and Carousel.  If things don't improve it looks like this place is doomed, another $25 million down the drain.

Breaks my heart that nobody is going to the waterpark...NOT.  I never was a waterpark person and never will be.  I was always the one wanting to ride the rides.  Won't go to Cedar Point for that but I'm planning a trip to Kennywood in the near future.

Thanks for the pics. I know it makes me really sad when I see weather like the past few days and there is no park left to go to. I know last year, my family and I would hit the park when it opens and hit the rides before it got real hit and then cool off in the water park for a bit and then hit the rides some more and have some lunch and after luch we would take a break from the sun and the heat by watching the Tim Hill magic show and the 4-d movie. Man it is sad! I so am wondering what will be happening at that auction!

You probably photoshopped those pics coasterdad.  It's pretty easy to clone an empty parking space and move it around to make it look like the park was empty.  According to the GL employees, everything is going great at WWK.

Ray P.

P.S.- Out of character for a moment, that Skyscraper pic is kind of sad.

I drove by the park yesterday afternoon after doing a little shopping at the Aurora outlets (against my better judgement as I avoided the park on my way out there by exiting at 306 instead of at 91 as usual).

Nothing has changed and we won't see anything until after the auction.

I stopped at the Famous Footwear at the shopping center across the street and it literally made me sick seeing Villain's first two hills and one of DL's loops just sitting there silent on a beautiful day.

Ray P  I believe coaster daddy that the parking lot was empty.  You must be a kinzel lover.  I know that when I went to Geauga Lake on a hot day, the water park was busy then when it closed the ride side picked up.  Kinzel killed Geauga Lake forf his own greed.  And it is not working in his favor.   From what I hear the crowds are doen at the point.  And there wave pool they will not even repair it. This is going to be a bad year for the point.  And it could have been a god year for Geauga Lake.  If they would have put money into the ride side.  May Kinzel pay for his sin big time

Geaugabob, Ray was joking (but that sure was a good imitation of some past posters here!)

I know they can't replace the park that you went to for 60 years, but I hope that you and your family get a chance to visit Idlewild, Waldameer, Kennywood or Darien Lake this summer.  There is much in all of them that reminds me of Geauga.
