· Quote

I went to Darien Lake yesterday, but obviously there is no way I could have had a good time as according to Parker, I am not an enthusiast.  So because of that "fact", I had a miserable time at this hell hole of an amusement park.  It was so depressing that there were only about 600 people total in the park.  I didn't have to wait in line for a single ride as they were all walk-ons.  Heck, they made us actually STAY ON some of the rides if there was no line.  I rode the new OCC Motocoaster and they made me go around the circuit twice, without getting off, and with a front row seat.  That is no way to run an amusement park.  How will they ever know the exact turnstile count?

As if that weren't enough, Darien Lake was running two trains on Ride Of Steel and Viper.  Look at these pictures though... does it look like the park should have been running two trains?  Talk about your staffing issues!

And here is what the Ride Of Steel station looked like most of the day.  You tell me how they justify running two trains.  Really, I'd like to hear it.

They also made me pay $7 for parking, $7 for fries and a drink (the fries were hot... how am I supposed to eat them like that?), and $20 for a 3-pack of Darien Lake t-shirts so I can advertise to the world what a dump this park is.  Look at these pics and you can see what I mean.  The place is just nasty:

Ick!  Who would want to spend time walking around those filthy grounds?

The simple fact that Darien Lake expects people to PAY to get in this park just boggles my mind.  They were even stupid enough to try and sell season passes here for $50.  Sorry, they'd have to pay me $50 to even CONSIDER going back here.

And if that wasn't all enough, what the hell kind of flat rides are these?  Not many other parks have them, so therefore they all suck.  Seriously, has anyone ever even seen these before?

And look at the size of this Enterprise.  Ha!  Where's the toothless tattoed drug addict to take my tickets?

I can't see this park lasting another year.  Everyone who likes this park is just plain sick and needs serious help.  I know I certainly won't be wasting any more of my cash to go back on a late September Saturday this year, especially when I can go to a park that will be packed to capacity, have two hour waits or longer for the most popular rides, and has real flat rides that I actually recognize.  So in summary, don't go to Darien Lake.  They certainly don't know what they are doing out in the middle of nowhere New York.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE let them go for BD!   Shocked

That place looks AWESOME.  Amusement Park like I remember it from childhood awesome.

I am so trying to talk the extended fam into driving out there for post-wedding fun instead of CP...  It looks like a much more relaxed day.

HOW DARE YOU GO TO THAT DUMP THEY CALL A CARNIVAL AND NOT GO TO CEDAR POINT?

I mean...omg that place has nothing going for it. You are no longer considered an enthusiast because you don't go to Cedar Point constantly and wait in nasty long lines covered in bird crap and has the most over priced food that is cold and served with an attitude.

In all seriousness, I think you just made us want to go to Darien Lake. About how far is the drive?  Very Happy

I just checked, 4 1/2 hours from East Akron.  Cleveland would be closer from being on I-90.  (GE sends me out I76, then I80.)

Does anyone know if they're ever going to setup the Intamin they got from Six Flags?

From Eastlake, I wasted 3 and a quarter hours each way.  And with gas at $4.10 a gallon in New York, I threw quite a bit of cash away to drive to Darien Lake.  I wish I could have that money back so I could have contributed to the per cap spending elsewhere.

Glad this thread is centered around me. Anyways it looks like that park does not do well. I guess there will be a loss in attendance this year there. I must say it does look better than Waldameer though, BUT def not as good as CP! Oh and guess what! I just found out when my next CP trip is! June 25th!! I will be at an actual world class amusement park with amazing rides!! Woot woot!

So Ray when is your next CP trip?

We will be sure to avoid the park on that day just because if any one of us ran into you, you would most likely get choked by someone or all that bird crap around the park.

What you aren't going to Coastermania? Oh that;s right you don't belong to a coaster club to get in, right? Cause coaster clubs actually enjoy going to other parks.

Ray, thanks for the info, we are seriously considering going in August once this baby is born. If you want to meet up and possibly car pool we are all for that!

2 1/2 hours from Akron to Waldameer, 2 1/2 more to Darien...

Perhaps an early-morning departure from CAK, go to Waldameer for a day, drive on to Darien and crash there for the evening, following day at Darien?

12 coasters, tons of flats...  Now to convince the soon-to-be-in-laws.  Very Happy

Probably sometime next week, Parker.  I don't understand why people think I don't like Cedar Point because I do.  I just happen to visit and enjoy other parks that aren't in Sandusky.

I'd better get the phone though.  Looks like ACE is calling to take away any rights I had as a coaster enthusiast...

^^^And how would you know what I look like? Trust me I don't want to meet any of you. What bird crap? The only bird crap I see are on roofs. Quit just copying what someone else here said. Why would I be part of a coaster club? The only park I go to is CP. I would never go to any other park. I will only give money to CP.

June 25th here I come!!

Somehow I am sure one of us could spot you in the park, if we went.

Why don't you go work for CP? That would be like the Ultimate Trip for you right?

Oh wait, did they reject you? Now that would be funny.

Ray, I think we are still planning on that trip, the park looks like a lot of fun. Hey maybe I could up my credit count to 250+. That would be sweet!

I am going to work there in a couple years. CP would never reject their number one fan.

Speaking of jobs, doesn't seem like you have one... hmmm....

Well if you read my posts...I am at home on BED REST due to complications from pregnancy. Or are you really that stupid?

I have had my particular job (FYI) for over 7 years as a photographer with a major chain of studios. They were very nice enough to give me the time off I needed due to medical reasons. Not that you care.

Second of all, we make enough money in this house for me not to have a job and to be a stay at home mom. That way I can teach my children what is right and what is wrong in this world. And you child, are just plain wrong.

CFVIP would the person at any park other than CP with a shirt or a neon sign saying, "This park is inferior to CP and should be shut down!".

It would not matter that he hadn't been there before.

CP is okay if you like big big parks.   I do not. And Yes!!! I HAVE been to CP before therefore can state opinions about what I have seen and experiences first hand, not on what I assume (and everyone know what happens if you assume) to be gospel, or is based on third hand information.  Go and take pictures yourself, they're worth a thousand words.
