Just got back to Akron from Idlewild sunday and we went to Kennywood Saturday.

Alright well Kennywood was quite an interesting trip there seeing how I-376 was shut down due to repavement so thanks to my Fiance's GPS we went through the boondocks of Pittsburg and PA to get there, but it was a fun trip getting there. So we arrived probally about 10:30 and the heat was on, it was already a good 92 degrees that saturday.  I probally didn't ride as much as I normally would but I rode the following: the whip, noahs ark, phantoms revenge, jack rabbit, garfield's nightmare, kennywood railroad, carousel, ghostwood estate (which by the way was awesome new addition to the park, and I think that was about it). I did however take quite a few pictures (well me and my fiance) Smile. I would say meal prices for Kennwood seemed higher then my last visit two years ago. We paid at least 7.00 each for a chicken basket with 3 big chicken strips and fries and then 3.67ish for a souveneir cup (with 1.00 refill, which made souvenier cup a good choice seeing how a small was like 1.25). Also we stopped by King Kahuna which did end up running must have been having problems because while we were there it was shut down a few times and running without water effects. I'd like to know if anyone has more information on that.

Well we had a pretty good time, we left about 4:00 due to heat and feeling a bit exahusted. It was still all in all a great trip as always.

Next on the 8th we ventured out to Idlewild and had a blast. Oh I'd say I really like that park, it has a nice nastalgic feeling to it. We went on : Mr. Rodgers Neighborhood, story book forest, rode all the flats, found a crooked motel type of tour thing...an illusion that makes it seem the ceiling is moving under you and your seeing the floor (you think your spinning, its a great illusion not sure how they pull tha tone off, but...wow... Smile ) Also wild mouse coaster was down, but I did manage to ride Rollo Coaster, which is a cute 1938 wooden roller coaster. Its bascally just and out and back coaster.  Suprising there was  just a few good pops of airtime on that. We were going to do the Soak Zone, but we had a 3 hour drive back from Ligonier, PA to Akron, Ohio, so we left about 4 also, but we spent a good 4 or 5 hours there. Lots of fun that little park. Oh prices at Idlewild were similar to Kennywood... but I think you get better portions at Idlewild. Drinks are about the same also. The only other note about Idlewild was their insects... they were pretty nasty, not sure if it was the heat or what. Well I'll upload some photos soon, we got back on sunday about 7:00 pm so I had lots of fun. Hope you enjoyed my TR! Very Happy

They were testing King Kahuna with all the new parts they just got in. Should be up and operational by now. They also had to train the crew on the ride.

They did turn the water off last year. It was NO fun riding that with a nose full of water.

What no T-Bolt or Racer? Tsk Tsk. If anything, I would have skipped Racer, but skipping T-Bolt is a big fat no-no.

Wink

Glad you had a great time, too bad the heat was too much.

Well personally I liked it better with water and getting drenched....especially with heat like this. They did give rides out as I do have photos of it running, just seems they had some problems still.

Does anyone know when I-376 is closed? I'm on vacation next week and am planning on hitting Kennywood. I usually go through downtown Pittsburgh to go to the park.

Glad you had a good time. I like Thunderbolt but I hate the single rider rule they have though I understand why they have it. I've been reamed before for not riding it in past trips.

Idlewild is truly a surprising park. Glad I got to ride Trinado before they took it out (it was a rare Huss Tri-Star that was replaced with a set of Flying Scooters last year).  Sorry you didn't get to ride the Wild Mouse. It is quite a good coaster.

The crooked motel walk through is Confusion Hill. It is a bit unusual and if you're not careful can make you a little sick.

"Come along, come along to the castle hug and song." Mr. Roger's Neighborhood of Make-Believe is a rather well done attraction.

Thanks for the TR's.

Wow, fun pics.  I remember Storybook Forest when I was a kid and a few of the things are still there.  I have a pic of my kids sitting on the same large block that I sat on and my parents have a picture of.  What amazed me most about Mister Rogers Neighborhood was how it is in the woods.  Tons of trees around it.  And I can't wait to visit KW again.  I think the Kangaroo is the best.  You can't help but laugh out loud.
