With the weather actually being cooperative on a weekend day, I headed out to The Point for a few quick rides and to get one last trip on Demon Drop before it heads west.  For some reason I thought the park opened at noon on Sundays.  When I arrived at 10:55 and everyone was being let in, I was quite p.o.'ed.  I like my Early Entry and felt like a tool for missing out.  The crowds looked pretty impressive for a Sunday which isn't surprising given the nice weather and the Bring a Friend for $15 deal going on.  In any case, here's a look at the 7 rides I got on in 140 minutes.

* Millennium Force (wait time: 15 minutes)- Running great.  I think MF seems to run much better at the end of the season.  With the chill in the air early on, it was definitely an invigorating ride.  All three trains were being used.

* Maverick (wait time: 20 minutes)- Still the best ride in the park and my current #2 steel coaster overall.  My only gripe was the coaster geek that sat next to me.  If he reads this, well, good because he deserves to hear this.  Bragging to people in line that you have been to Cedar Point EVERY day this year doesn't make you cool.  It makes you sort of sad.  And telling people that weren't even listening to you (i.e. the folks in front of you and me) that Dragster is a better ride makes you look like an even bigger tool.  Love that launch, though.  Smile

* Mean Streak (wait time: none)- Sucked.  There was not one positive thing that I could say about this absolute mess of a ride.  The ride just shook from start to finish and not in a good way.  What was up with the double rows of wood in the middle of the track this year?  They certainly didn't help.  As if the ride wasn't bad enough, the complete and utter b!tch that was running the microphone ranks as one of the worst employees I have ever encountered at ANY amusement park.  When a train returned she gave a half-hearted "welcome back" and then said "Now go ride some more stuff... (mumble mumble)".  Not sure what she said there, but I'm sure it wasn't pleasant.  When my train returned to the station, the same douche asked how our ride was.  I booed and the guy in front of me said "awful".  Her response was "Whatever".  I have no problem with that but when the guy in front of me laughed and said that was bad, I said "It absolutely sucked".  The girl overheard me and then yelled "Then don't ride it then".  I lashed out with something not nice and I heard a mumble response but decided to "let it go" as I didn't need to be escorted out over some f-ing idiot that would rather have been anywhere but on the Mean Streak platform.  Love that Cedar Fair customer service.  Of course, not taking my meds for the day didn't help matters much...

* Magnum (wait time: 5 minutes)- Running very well and featured a ton of airtime on the return stretch.  Riding in a .2 seat makes the ride much more bearable.  The staff here was MUCH better than the moron at Mean Streak, so my mood was elevated from "dangerously irate" to "mildly annoyed".

* Chaos (wait time: one cycle)- I decided to give Chaos one last spin before it rolls down the midway to obscurity and have to say I'm going to miss this ride.  Chaos is a fun flat that offers a unique ride sensation and actually seems to still be popular.  I understand it's a maintenance nightmare (as is anything by Chance), so I can't fault them for taking it down.  So long Chaos.  You'll be missed by at least one person.

* Cedar Downs (wait time: one cycle)- Nooooo!  That god-awful music was back in action.  While I wasn't as annoyed as I was back in July, I still am not a fan of the jazzy tune.  The ride was great as always in spite of the music.  I did find myself humming the song on the way home though. Ugh!  It was nice to see people of all ages enjoying this classic though.  There were folks from 7 to 70 on board.

* Demon Drop (wait time: 15 minutes)- The primary reason I visited was to ride DD for the last time.  I wish I would have listened to the voices I hear (cue the Randy Orton theme song...) that told me to stay off.  DD was running rough.  Almost Mr. Hyde rough.  The transitions into the tower and the one that lowers you back to the loading level were bone-jarring.  I hope CF fixes that up a bit before unleashing it at Knott's. In any case, it was nice to be able to ride one last time since CF was kind enough to announce that it was closing.  It's too bad they didn't... what's that?  Oh... the voices are telling me to stop while I'm ahead.

When I left the park, my mood was "pleased", so not even the b!tch at Mean Streak could bring my visit down.  CP was clean, the visitors seemed happy, and while the employees certainly were a mixed bag, I'll attribute that to end of the season blues.

Thanks for reading-

Ray have some compassion here. Would you like to work on Mean Streak? Hell, Do you think anyone comes off of that ride happy? I'm just kidding there ray. The reason for the double wood between the tracks id so workers don't fall through. It had something to do with the safty fines they recieved last year.(or so I've been told).  I can't get anyone from my family to ride that contraption with me anymore.

Thanks for the info ffejie.  I didn't know that's what the double wood was for.  I figured it had nothing to do with the smoothness of the ride.  Wink

Hope you enjoyed your day at the Point.  Aside from the minor inconveniences, I had a good time.

So the moron next to you on Maverick wasn't Parker?  Makes Parker look even less like superfan.

They're getting rid of Chaos too?  Geez!  I just had a witty thing to say about Chance, and my train of thought got derailed.  Damn old age!  I guess next year I'll have to get my spinning fix out of the Tilt-A-Whirl.

Chaos isn't going anywhere. It's for sale, but will be operating in 2010.

And then, the next day, a certain coaster at a certain park near Cincinatti will set its fourth record.

The first time i rode it this year it did seem fun.. second time.. I agree it would make a good bonfire... lets all go and keep warm off of mean streak!  Very Happy  Although I hear a rumor of a new wooden coaster near DT close to the front and demon drops location
