|

Do you have Internet Explorer 7 and is your computer responding very slowly when you view web pages? The computer may respond very slowly as the Phishing Filter evaluates Web page contents in Internet Explorer 7. The Phishing Filter is a new feature in IE7. Repa
Although I understand the problem, I am not sure about the fix.
Are they saying: Download the the update and disable the pfishing filter or disable if you don't want to download the update? _________________

Jane, as I read it, it says to do the update to resolve the problem, or you can choose the workaround, which is to disable the phishing filter until such time as you choose to do the update. _________________ Repa

Well, now I am confused. All of the dates on the update are Jan and Feb of 2007. Shouldn't this already be in my comp if I do auto update. I have to check my update history. Well, yes I do have it. So, why do I still have that problem?
Maybe I should try the disable Pfishing and see what happens. Will let you know. _________________

Repa,
All I can say is I'm greedy. I am slower than I was but not that slow. Just thought I would check it all out. _________________

I had just recentloy activated the phising filter - it seemed to make IE7 especially this site - very slow. I just deactivated it and I think that fixed the problem but ill have to use it a little while to be sure.
Jane, what did you ever do? Did you deactivate the phishing filter.

No, I just left well enough alone. My computer is not that slow. As I said before, I am just greedy. I do believe it is running slow now because of all of the photos. I need to clean out My Pictures. It really isn't so slow as to cause problems, just annoying. _________________

Jane,
Guess I am greedy and impatient. I think at least for now I'll just leave the phishping filter turend off -ther may be a time I will regret it - but I have gotten by with it till now.

I've been meaning to download IE7 again. I had it before my last crash and liked it. I know that Spy Sweeper by Webroot (paid version) has phishping filters as well. I wasn't sure if they clashed with one another which is one reason I haven't dl it.
I am glad this thread was started as it will help when I decided to download IE7 ...It also answered some of my questions...
Thanks Repa for those links I know they will help me too...
Jane and Fay..You both are braver than I am. I think I partically blamed IE7 for my last crash. I get brave again soon...
Thanks everyone,. _________________

Sheila,
I have had IE7 since it was beta. I really like it and wouldn't want to go back to 6. I have never had any problems with it. Once I got used to the tabs I seem to open too many sites at once. _________________

Sheila,
You know I spoke too soon. Actually this isn't a problem, just an annoying situation.
I have found that even though my Internet Options are set to "Empty Temporary Internet Files folder when browser is closed", it does not happen. I can be off the internet all night and in the morning when I open the browser and check, it still takes 5 to 6 second to empty. Now, after I empty and click on "Delete" again, there is nothing, like it is really empty. This is slightly confusing to me, but now I just delete for I get off the internet.
Maybe I should put this in the Computer Problem forum. _________________
