Jane,

I almost downloaded it yesterday but decided to wait. Yes I think it may help other as well if you put this in the computer help forum.

I don't have mine set to empty at shut down because I empty them about three times a day as well before I shut down at night. I know a bit obsessive but I think clean is better and may help if I've visited sites with photos est... I also think it might make my computer faster. I could be wrong. I always do if after I edit photos and reboot. I don't know if that is good or not for the hard drive but this is how I clean them out. When I dl IE7 again I'll ask what way is the best.

If I forget to do it during the day it will take a few seconds to empty these temporary files, cookies, web site and forms. I have to go to the Contant Tab for delete other forms too...Its been a while since I had IE7 so I forget the difference.

Thanks,

Sheila,

You know I spoke too soon.  Actually this isn't a problem, just an annoying situation.

I have found that even though my Internet Options are set to "Empty Temporary Internet Files folder when browser is closed", it does not happen.  I can be off the internet all night and in the morning when I open the browser and check, it still takes 5 to 6 second to empty.  Now, after I empty and click on "Delete" again, there is nothing, like it is really empty.  This is slightly confusing to me, but now I just delete for I get off the internet.

Maybe I should put this in the Computer Problem forum.

The answer to your problem lies here:

Jane, I forgot to mention - be sure to read the "related articles" links at the end of that article as well.

Repa,

How do you ever find all this information?  Just wish I  could remember it all.  I  save the links in Favories - but then get so much stuff there I can never find anything Sad

I do use google to search for stuff and sometime find things - but lots of time can not find what i am looking for.

Thanks for all the information you give us.

'Cause I'm "older than dirt!" Wise Fay, hehe  Wink You're quite welcome.

Actually, I find a lot of stuff by entering the error messages word for word in google, or in Jane's case, I entered

"Empty Temporary Internet Files folder when browser is closed does not work in IE7", and found the answer at a link within a link that was at the bottom of the page google presented. "Empty Temporary Internet Files folder when browser is closed" is what you check in IE7, and "does not work in IE7" is the problem encountered when you use that option. Configuring your searches similar to this depending on the problem you have works most of the time.

Shucks! Now that you know my secret, I probably won't be needed anymore!  Crying

Repa,

Don't worry you will always be needed. You make me smile but even more so I wouldn't try some of these fixes until I run them by you first.

Being older than dirt has it's advantages as well as a great guy who is always willing to help...everyone...Hey! I'm almost there myself. I would probably say something like I'm ready to turn into dust in a couple of years or so... Wink ...

You are so appreciated here...

Love  Wink  Good Night

I just noticed I have the box checked for empty temporaty files when browser is closed...I may do this a couple times a day...Meaning if I go to Craigslist looking at the classified ads...

Can't say for sure if they are deleted or not??? I do know I delete them before closing my browser...I guess I better get back to you on this when I'm sure...Just thinking aloud..

Later,

CCleaner also empties your TIF files, and a lot more.
