I know Sheila has it. I am trying to figure out if I need it. I have XP Home SP2 with the latest updates.  I was wondering if SP3 is even needed.

I would think if there was a specific reason for upgrading to SP3, Microsoft would use SP3 in the updates. I cannot find much to tell me the difference or if it is "required".

Fay,

Still wait... I had checked Microsoft support forum sometime during the ending of last year and many bugs for SP3 were being reported.

I will try to check them out again and let you know

The reason I have Service Pack 3 is because I don't have IE7...

Fay remember back when we couldn't figure out why some of my mail was going through wrong...I went to Office Update and because I have Pro installed these were critical installs...I'm guessing with IE7 this isn't necessary...

That's all I can figure out...Wink

Sheila,

I kind of remember your getting service pack 3 but can't remember exactly why.  I am not sure what not having ie7 has to do with it, but then I really haven't read anything about service pack 3 either.  Guess I should.

I don't think not having IE7 had anything to do with it, as I don't and I haven't seen SP3 offered as a critical update, or any Windows Update for that matter. Your machine must be special, Sheila. Or, maybe it's because you have XP Pro and the rest of us are on XP Home - I haven't looked into it. Do you have connections with Bill Gates? Maybe Kim has influence with him and didn't tell you.  Wink

I have XP Pro and so far no SP3. I will wait until it comes down the wire from Windows Update. But I have IE7 (and looking forward to IE8).
