My D drive is almost full on my laptop already. What can I delete to get some more room?
There's only 799MB free of 9.99GB

Hi Ruth,
How many Users do you have?
When you create different accounts to use a computer this too takes up space. However, I do not know if it affects "D". So lets wait on Repa 
It would be ideal to just have two accounts - Administrator and Group

Ruth,
I can't see the size in your screen shot. When you took that shot what view did you have set? I have mine set for details so I can see the size.
Try checking where it says Organize Views Burn...If the View is details I think you might be able to show the amount of space better so Repa can see too...I think so anyways...Sorry I don't have an answer. I'm sure Repa does...
Good Luck...Hope this helps some what...so he can see...or something is wrong with my screen...anything is possible with me...
It doesn't seem possible that you are so full...I still have lots of room left and this computer is getting pretty old...

Setting to View to Details is a very good idea! I already did have it set to Details though (had to check). I think why the file size doesn't show up, is that most of them are folders??? I don't know. When I hover my mouse over each one, this is the file size:
dell-4.11 GB
Program Files-6.63 MB
RUTH-NOTEBOOK-0 bytes
sources-993 KB
Tools-1.52 MB
Users-0 bytes
Windows-32.8 MB
It's strange...the computer did a backup this morning to the D drive, that's why it shows today's date behind RUTH-NOTEBOOK, but if it did a backup, how come it shows 0 bytes? (I don't get it)

I'm afraid you've got me confused, Ruth. It says it's your recovery drive. That usually is a hidden drive that can only be seen under Disk Management in WinXP. Since I haven't seen the screen you posted before, I assume you are running Vista? If that is your recovery drive, then you shouldn't be putting anything on it or deleting anything from it. If you didn't have enough space to hold the backup on the D drive, that would explain the 0 bytes. A recovery drive is used in combination with recovery CDs by manufacturers like Dell, HP, and others to restore your C:\ drive in case of catastrophic failure.

Sorry that I couldn't reply until now, Repa! I'll take a screen shot of when I open "Computer"(yes, I have Vista)...
It's right in "Computer"; it's not hidden. I haven't added anything to it, so I'm confused!!

Your D: Partition on Vista is a partition set up on your computer by the Manufacturer in case of serious problems in the Vista operation system. Do not touch it. I didn't know it would show like that as it is hidden on earlier operating systems, but nevertheless, that is your recovery drive.
Vista apparently tries to use the recovery partition when using the backup program/utility if you don't specify another drive. That partition shouldn't be used for anything but the recovery information. Furthermore, it is just a partition of the only "physical" hard drive in your machine (the same physical drive as your C: partition) and as such is not a good place for storing the backups anyway, since if that hard drive fails, the back up will be lost.To Backup your System/Data, buy an external Hard drive, and save to that.

You should also read the documentation for the machine to see if you need to make a restore disk if the manufacturer didn't send you one in case of a hard drive failure, since often times the d: partition is used in place of computer manufacturer's sending an install/recovery disc with your system.

Thanks for the link and the info...VERY helpful!! Sounds like I shouldn't do anything. The back-up thing just does it automatically itself. I have backed up stuff for now on a couple of flash drives, but it sounds like I should get an external Hard Drive.
