Repa, anybody?
When I first got Firefox, if I wanted to save a page to my desktop, it would save the page in my Firefox browser. But, for sometime now, when I try to do that ie saves it ot desktop in Internet Explorer browser(IE).
How do I get it to save in Firefox browser? Repa, anybody?

I failed to include a better explanation.
I'm talking about right clicking on a page, such as geeks home page, & then click "Save as". That way, I can click on that icon to go directly to geeks site, without having to open up the Firefox browser, then having to click on Bookmarks, then click geeks, in order to get here. It just save several steps.
When I used to do this, if I was in Firefox browser, the icon on my desktop would be the Mozilla Firefox emblem. And, by the same token, if in IE browser, the icon on my desktop would have an "E" in front of a sheet of paper. And, when either of these are clicked twice, you open the browser in their respective IE or Firefox.
But, now, when I do the right click>save as>, if I'm in Firefox browser, instead of the icon for Firefox, when it is double clicked, it will open up in IE instead of Firefox.
And, I don't know how to get the icon to be for the Mozilla Firefox browser?
I hope this better explains it.

Well... I just learned something new 
Right now I am on IE6 and no matter how much I right-click I do not get the "Save as" (it shows deactivated) - Exactly where do I right-click?... cause I have tried all over this screen
Anyway... check to see if Firefox is set to be your default browser
- Select "Tools > Options" from the main menu in Firefox / or "Edit > Preferences"
- Change to the "General" tab/section.
- Check the "Firefox should check to see if it is the default browser when starting" option.
- Click "OK".
- Close all Firefox windows (for best results, restart the system). Finally, restart Firefox.
- When the "Would you like to make [Firefox] your default browser?" prompt appears, click "Yes" to make Firefox the default browser.

Firefox is my default browser. My settings are the same now as when I first began using Firefox, I haven't changed anything. That's why I can't figure out why this won't work for me now.?

Wc,
Can you right-click on the icon you are referring to and post a screenshot - plus can I see what is in properties?
Sometimes, when doing a complete clean-out in the system the .ico files get clean out.
Have you tried re-coping the page, to see if it saves with the Firefox icon, thus open in the same brower it was saved in?
Btw... I right-click all over and I even tried with IE7 -- that option is not enable for my right-click

To create an IE shortcut, right-click on the webpage and select “Create Shortcut”on the popup menu that appears. This will allow you to create an IE shortcut Icon on your desktop to that webpage.
To create a Firefox shortcut to a webpage:
· Resize the Firefox window so you can see both your computer's desktop and the Firefox window on the same screen.
· Click and hold the icon in the Location bar (aka. favicon), which is just left of the URL of the page you're viewing.
· While still holding the mouse button down, move the pointer to the desktop, then release the mouse button. The shortcut will be created.
You can change the Icon from IE to Firefox by right-clicking on the shortcut, and selecting Properties on the menu that appears. In the properties window, select the Web Document tab and then select the “Change Icon” button. On the Change Icon page, select the Browse button and navigate to the following location: C:\ProgramFiles\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe. Some Firefox Icons will appear in the space below the browse button. Select one and click Ok twice to get out of the windows. Your shortcut will now have a Firefox browser Icon.
On my computer, regardless of which browser I create a shortcut from, the shortcut is created as an IE Browser Icon, and will open in IE. However, I think that if you have your default browser set to Firefox (mine is set to IE), the shortcut you created for Firefox will open in Firefox. If not, try opening a Firefox browser and then click the shortcut and see if it will open as a 2nd tab in that browser.

Thinking back on it, I think I told you wrong on the way I created those icons. You'll be much better off to take Repa's advice. I just tried it and his methods work.

I learned something from your post that I didn't know. That's always good.
As I mentioned, thinking back on it, I think I might have created those shortcuts in IE, and when I installed Firefox, and set Firefox as my default browser, that changed most of the IE icons to Firefox icons automatically.
And, I just clicked the other IE shortcut icons, and they opened up in Firefox. Then, I used your method to change the icon to Firefox.
I still don't know why all of the shortcuts weren't already changed over to Firefox anyway.

Some IE icons I wanted to change didn't already have the Firefox icon in the space below the browse button. And, when I click on "Browse", it didn't show any icons, not sure how to describe what it showed. Maybe it was a path, if clicked on, not sure.
But, my question here is is there any way to find a Firefox icon, other than the "Browse"??

Did you navigate to the path I gave you when you clicked on Browse? Again, that path is:
C:\ProgramFiles\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe
Once that is in the text box next to the browse button, you should see some Firefox icons.

Repa: It worked like a charm!!! I had to do some quick thinking when I went to the other limited users accounts. I had the "Path" copied, but, of course, on the other accounts it would not work. Sooooooo, I right clicked on a firefox icon that was already on the desktop, and clicked browse, the copied & pasted in the ones that needed changing.
REPA: I just wished I was as smart as you!!!!!!!
