Sam,
Do you have any idea why you had different colors for the button in IE6?

Well, I don't know what's going on, but I get the following when I choose Tools > Internet Options >Accessibility and check "Ignore colors specified on webpages":
When I use the IE default settings (as Fay and Sam showed for Colors and leave "Ignore colors specified on webpages" unchecked, I get the following:
So, it appears that we get different colors, depending on which computer you are using, which doesn't make much sense. There doesn't appear to be consistency with the IE browser between computers. There is a website that the grandchildren like to go to for games. On one of the web pages, you need a horizontal and vertical scroll bar to access the links to some of the games. On my laptop and custom-built computer, the scroll bars are there, but on Granny's computer they aren't, and you can't see that portion of the web page you need to access the links. All the browser settings are the same on all 3 computers. I haven't been able to figure out why the scroll bars aren't there on Granny's computer. Guess that's Microsoft for you! _________________ Repa

wow, this is all very starnge. Seems as though it woud be very difficult to develop for the web with all the inconsistency. A person could spend a lot of time trying to ensure that things look good - and then have it not work for a lot of people

Yes Fay I know.
Each browser produces different results. If Ruth where to make these buttons as images she would not have this result.
But we are seeing the same colors in the overall page, its just the buttons and font size.
Repa... what browser did you use to take the last screenshot?
And about the scrollbar... could just be a thing like Java or Flash that's not updated in Granny's computer
Fay... this is true... that is why there is a cross browser compatibility business - anyway that is mayor stuff for us
And this is also why, that when designing webpages it's good to see the end results in most browser. I wrote something about it the class project _________________

My font size is different because I choose it to be so - can't see the smaller print anymore.

IE6

Not that, because I updated her Java and Flash just to be sure.

Sorry, but I couldn't sign on until now.
Wow, there sure has been a lot of activity here! My IE7 shows the same as Fay's and, I think, Sam's. I'll post a screen shot...
I'm confused about the buttons. I did make them images, I thought, in Fireworks. Can someone tell by just clicking "View Source"? Please tell me how to fix them.
Thanks!
*edited* I forgot to say something, someone asked (I think Sam did) about the template. It is a free one that I found, but in order to use it, I had to put a link to their site on every page, so the "Kiwis Graphics" logo is click-able on each page and links directly to their site. _________________

Ruth ...It is interesting how we can customize our colors on web pages as well as fonts to view them different ways. I went to the control panel and changed the color scheme from Rainy Day to Window Classic and now I do not have those browish color on the buttons and fly outs...
I'm pretty much seeing what Repa see except we choose different fonts...
Here is the way it looks now compared to the one I sent you...No brown buttons this way
The first or above shot I saved as jpg..the two below were saved as gif...notice how I lost some colors when I saved the two back shots ...so I learned something too..
I don't know if this helps you knowing why mine were different before...I thought I would show you the difference
I'm very proud of you...Very well done...IE6 _________________

Your colors are still different than Ruth's and mine though. I'll leave this to yall gals now. Color and artistry in not my thing.

Thanks Sheila!! Yes, it DOES help! At least now we know why they were different colors for you! I'm still confused at why the buttons are a different color for you and Repa... _________________

I think because you both are using IE7 there are some differences, slight but I'm using IE6. I also have changed through the control panel >Display Properties>Appearance Tab to Windows and Buttons Window Classic style and Color Scheme: Window Classic ...
Before I had Rainy Day ...for the Color Scheme...Interesting how I customized my colors using that...
You can do a lot from that Appearance Tab... _________________

Ruth,
As I said above, I think I'll leave the design decsions to others. I'll be watching to see what you come up with though.

Ruth,
I did want to say that screen shot I just showed the white background didn't show right...It should show more white as that is what I am seeing...A bad screen shot ...It shows a little grey to me as the regular web page is nice and white...
I'll check and see what you have changed now... _________________

Ruth,
Me too!!!
It's more integrate. As seen in all the screen shots by the different browsers the buttons looks different. On IE7 & Firefox you had three colors going on for the buttons - transparent - white on hover and light green - now you have two - keeping it simple and uniform
Sheila, Repa and I use IE6, from the screen shots we three see the same thing.
IE6 just does not support some languages or instructions, like CSS - that is why we have those color buttons in IE6. There is a way but I can't think at the moment. For some reason it's not recognizing the code directing to the image buttons but I would say not to worry about it as the flyout works in IE6 and the colors are uniform. _________________
