This is interesting. I got a notice from McAfee a few seconds after I entered this site. Also, I noticed a pop up just before the McAfee notice:www.animatedgif.net is the site.

Jane,
There is a pop-under that you get every time you visit the board for the fist time of the day.
I decided to set the Ad system to this as the banner Ads seem to have been causing problems for some people at the Support Forum in the past. However they are no longer reporting a problem - so I just decided to leave it that way as there are 3 Ad system here. Banner - Popunder - Ads in folder - 3 is just way too much! - so we now only have two.
I had informed about it here is this thread
http://www.freepowerboards.com/geeksmore/geeksmore-about1357.html
About the trojan and the site you reported (www.animatedgif.net) - I will investigate and get back at you _________________

Verrry interesting considering that McAfee SiteAdvisor considers this a green site, but with popups. Might it be that McAfee has detected a false positive? You could send them the information you have and ask. Unfortunately, I cannot read anything in your image, so don't know what McAfee is telling you about what it detected. Did it stop whatever it was or did it get on your machine? _________________ Repa

If you click the image it zooms Repa...It's a temporary file...so it could be a bad cookie. _________________ if there was room for another God, and Almighty was ok with it, He would pick me because I'm just that darn good |

Ok, I see it now. Looks like McAfee took care of it, whatever it was. _________________ Repa

McAfee doesn't have anything on the trojan. They did delete it, that is why I did this thread. I was surprised myself that the site was green. But it always has been and I have used it before. I did google the trojan itself and pretty much got nothing because it was just found in July. I will be checking on and off to see if there are updates on it.
Samantha, this was one of those pop ups that come up behind the screen you are viewing and you do not see it until you close your current screen. That is what surprised me. _________________

That would be consider a pop-under
Jane... don't you have pop-up blocker enable?
Have you consider installing the host files that both Repa & I like so much. They really, really do help.
As I have the host files I don't see the ads or get notices from my pop-up blocker.
You said: "I was surprised myself that the site was green. But it always has been and I have used it before."
Are you referring to animatedgif.net?
This is what I found out about animatedgif.net
It is consider green by Site Advisor and they are in the goggle syndication. It is reported that they have an excessive of popups and advertisements, in which carries Third-Party Cookies from atdmt.com. Now atdmt.com redirects to atlassolutions.com (provides online advertising agencies and publishers solutions for ad server needs) in which one reviewer said that his/her computer revealed a nasty tracking cookie when visiting the site.
(All three sites mention above are listed green by Site Advisor)
There is nothing we can do really with these Ads. FPB needs these Ads to maintain the free forums. I really think that Goggle are the ones that should start cleaning up there act. Just because they are in goggle syndication doesn't mean that they are clean & safe!
All we can do here is show how to protect your computer... in the long run you will be glad you no longer have to see Ads with a mayor plus benefit. _________________
