|
|
Wwe's question about his mom's laptop got me thinking. I don't remember making recovery disks when I bought this laptop. I don't know where to go to create them. I Googled on how to (or where to go), but it said to first go to Recovery Manager under All Programs, but I don't have Recovery Manager at all...what do I do to create recovery disks? Thanks! _________________

Different makes of computers have different ways of doing this, Ruth. Did the laptop not come with recovery disks? What make of laptop do you have? Have you gone to the manufacturer's website or your instruction manual for instructions?
Also, as I mentioned to wwe in my most recent post in his thread, you can use any public copy of Windows Vista (same version of Vista as your laptop) if you ever have to reinstall the operating system. When you try to activate, it will fail. Call the phone number on the screen and a Microsoft operator will activate it for you. You must tell her (him) the legal product key off the tower or computer case. This person will then read you sets of numbers and activate it for you if it is a legal operating system still on the original hard drive. _________________ Repa

DUH!!! I FEEL SO STUPID!!! I went to Dell's website (on the recommendation from Repa's post) and it was talking about recovery disks that were shipped with the computer, then I remembered and checked, yes, I do have them! (I was thinking about the disks I had made from our desktop HP computer, when I started this thread.)
So, I am so sorry to have wasted your time, Repa!! I have the tendency to just ask before checking myself. SORRY!!
Thanks for refreshing my memory!! _________________

That's ok, Ruth. Asking questions helps us all to learn something new. _________________ Repa
